Dean, Schwartz, Mallory and Douglas Ullman, Jr. Join THE FANTASTICKS 3/30

Bradley Dean, Jonathan Schwartz, Ramona Mallory and Douglas Ullman, Jr. will join the Off Broadway cast of The Fantasticks as El Gallo, Matt, Luisa and The Mute, respectively, beginning Monday, March 30, 2009.

Bradley Dean (El Gallo) most recently starred on Broadway as Sir Galahad in Spamalot. Other Broadway credits include Company, Man of La Mancha, The Story of My Life and Jane Eyre. Off Broadway and NYC credits include The Big Time (The Drama Dept.), Barry Manilow's Harmony, Walmartopia (Minetta Lane), Poe (Cherry Lane Theater), Disney's When You Wish and Free to Be You and Me (Barrow Street Theater). He has toured nationally as Che in Evita directed by Hal Prince and Sir Galahad in Spamalot directed by Mike Nichols and internationally as Frank N. Furter in The Rocky Horror Show performing in over a dozen countries. Regional credits include No Way to Treat a Lady, Falsettos, The Caretaker, Loot, Avenue X, The Secret Garden, and the title roles in Phantom, The Scarlet Pimpernel and Macbeth at such theaters as Papermill Playhouse, The Alliance, St. Louis Rep., and Pittsburgh CLO. Recordings include Great Joy (Grammy Nomination), Barbara Cook's Count Your Blessings, Man of La Mancha (Cast Album) and Jane Eyre (Original Cast Album).

Jonathan Schwartz (Matt) is a former winner of the WOR Radio Shining Star competition and is featured on the new Epic Records release Ben Folds presents: University A Capella! His regional credits include Buddy Holly in The Buddy Holly Story, Joseph in Joseph...Dreamcoat and Percy in The Scarlet Pimpernel (Papermill Rising Star winner). Ramona Mallory (Luisa) appeared in the national tours of Captain Louie and The Music Man. Regional appearances include Amadeus, West Side Story, Grease, La Cage Aux Folles, Cats, The Wizard of Oz, Yours, Anne, The Sound of Music and Camelot. Schwartz and Mallory are making their New York debut.

Douglas Ullman, Jr. (The Mute) is returning to The Fantasticks after originating the role of The Mute in the revival and previously playing Matt. Other credits include A Funny Thing... (Hero) at Florida Repertory Theatre, the Asia tour of The Sound of Music (Rolf), Ragtime (Younger Brother), Grease (Doody) and Godspell.

The Fantasticks is a captivating and simple romantic comedy about a boy and girl who fall in and out of love at the hands of their meddling fathers. The audience uses its imagination to follow the narrator, El Gallo, as he creates a world of moonlight and magic until the boy and girl find their way back to one other. The score, which includes the hit songs "Try To Remember," "They Were You" and "Soon It's Gonna Rain," is as timeless as the story itself.

Having played a record-breaking 17,162 performances in its original run at the Sullivan Street Playhouse in Greenwich Village, The Fantasticks is now playing in the heart of Times Square at The Snapple Theater Center, located at 210 West 50th Street at Broadway.

The Fantasticks company also includes Tom Flagg (Broadway's Will Rogers Follies, How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, Oklahoma), Gene Jones (No Country for Old Men, Broadway's Big River, Joe Turner's Come and Gone), Michael Nostrand, (A&E's Emmy Award-winning Peter Pan, national tours of Jelly's Last Jam, The Mystery of Edwin Drood), Evy Ortiz, Steve Routman (The Keen Company's The Conscientious Objector, Awake and Sing! at Arena Stage), John Thomas Waite (title role in Broadway's Amadeus) and Scott Willis (Broadway's Crazy for You and 42nd Street).

The Fantasticks performance schedule is as follows: Mondays at 8PM, Wednesdays at 2PM, Thursdays and Fridays at 8PM, Saturdays at 2PM & 8PM, and Sundays at 3PM & 7:15PM.
