Charlotte Miller's RAISING JO Set to Open June 5th at Theatre Row
Charlotte Miller's Raising Jo will receive a workshop production June 5th-10th at the Studio Theater at Theater Row. Directed by Julie Kline, the cast will feature Sarah Jes Austell (Showtime's Sweetbitter ), Chris Bellant ( Loserville ), Charlotte Graham (ART's The Tempest ), Anna Holbrook (Daytime Emmy Winner, Another World ) and Steve Payne (Albee's Me, Myself & I ). Waldorf Entertainment and Yuriy Pavlish are producing.
Charlotte Miller's play Ugly Little Sister was recently produced at the Strasberg Institute as part of the Clifford Odets new play commission. Her plays include " Thieves" (Rattlestick Playwrights Theater, Rising Phoenix Rep, and Weathervane Productions), " Barn" , " Favorites" , " Rosie-Herman-Petunia" (Rising Phoenix Rep), and " Rocks" (Essential Theater Group). " Raising Jo " has been workshopped at PLAYPENN, Rattlestick, IAMA Theater, and Hudson Stages.
"Raising Jo" explores the lives of Calvin and Molly, a young couple whose unplanned pregnancy complicates their lives after breaking up. Together, they must face the prospect of raising a child apart and building a family from a severed connection.
The creative team includes scenic design by Joo Kim, costume design by Sammy Mainzer, lighting design by Kia Rogers, and sound design by Alexandra Valley. Pamela McCaddin will serve as production stage manager.
