Male Actor Auditions for

The Reunion

The Reunion
MALE ACTORS .... WE NEED YOU!!!!!

Three talented male actors are needed to complement the wonderful female actors (four) who will be a part of THE REUNION, a new play produced and written by Alan Truax, and directed by Maggie Upton. This play will run over the last three weekends of September at the Geery Theater in downtown Sacramento. Over half of all available seats have been presold, insuring strong attendance. Financial remuneration includes equal profit-sharing, with a minimum $300 per actor guarantee. Alan & Maggie would greatly appreciate recipients of this message forwarding it to other actors for their consideration.
Our next audition will take place Thursday, May 31st, 2012 - 7:00PM - Geery Theater, 22nd & L Streets, Sacramento. RSVP or questions can be sent to Alan Truax,
allynntruax@sbcglobal.net or
916-521-9959.

Male Characters

J.R.: (Lead) Thirty-eight year old J.R. still yearns for the love of his life. He hopes attending his 20th High School Reunion might lead to a long-desired romance, but it leads to far more than he ever expected! JR and Anna (female lead) are the strong pillars who support the zaniness of five other characters.

MO: Thirty-eight year old Mo is an intelligent but unconventional man. He is wealthy, egocentric, self-serving, yet very likeable. As a product of growing up in the turbulent sixties he doesn't believe in the rules of society, but has managed to make a fortune within the "establishment." Words describing Mo are calculated, avant-garde, nerdy, odd and entrepreneurial.

DONNIE: Donnie Dupree is Anna's work associate and good friend. Donnie's age can be anywhere from thirty to sixty. He is flamboyant and very proud to be gay. Other words describing Donnie are animated, enthusiastic, effeminate, excitable, kind.

Synopsis
A twenty-five year high school reunion ignites unresolved issues for four classmates in this raucous and hilarious full-length romantic comedy.

Run: July 21 to Aug 12, 2012 (Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays)
Adapted and Directed by Tana Coleburn
Shakespeare meets Jane Austen? This new adaptation is set during the Regency Era, and the characters and the dialogue are similar to those you might find in a Jane Austen novel. "Measure for Measure" is unique among Shakespeare's catalogue of work: It is a Dark-Comedy -- it deals with serious issues; but, unlike the tragedies where everyone dies in the end, in this story the lovers come together.

Synopsis:
The Duke is unmarried, but has an exemplary heir and assistant in his distant cousin, Angelo. But is Angelo all he seems to be? Duke Vincentio devises a plan to find out. He gives Angelo his own dukely authority while Vincentio pretends to leave the country on political business. Instead the Duke disguises himself as a priest both to walk among the people and to keep an eye on Angelo to see how he handles the affairs of state AND himself)

Characters left to Cast:
Duke Vincentio (Lead) - Scholarly and intelligent. Has elegance, dignity and natural authority. Looks age 30's to 50's

First gentleman - A lord of the realm. Any Age

Older Male African-American Actor Needed at Celebration Arts

CELEBRATION ARTS

Seeking and African-American male to play John Ed Patten, the grandfather of Barbara Jordan, in the play Voice Of Good Hope. The grandfather appears in only one scene, a conversation with Barbara when she was 12 years of age.

The Play
This play explores the life of Barbara Jordan who was elected to the Texas State Senate in 1966 and in 1972 became the first black woman from the deep south elected to the United States House of Representatives. From the lessons she learned as a child in a junkyard in Houston's Fifth Ward, to the political maneuverings that took place behind closed doors on Capitol Hill, the play documents the spirit of the woman who rose, against all odds to be one of this country's most powerful orators, one of its most astute politicians, one of its greatest teachers.

Performance Dates
The play will open June 22 and run Thursday through Sunday, closing on July 28, 2012, for a total of 21 performances.

West Sacramento CERT needs actors for training drill

West Sacramento Community Emergency Response Team is participating, along with multiple agencies, in a Regional Emergency Drill. This drill will be held in October in Elk Grove. We are looking for actors willing to portray victims of a disaster. It would be ideal if there was someone (or a team) available to do moulage makeup on the "victims." This would be a great training opportunity. This would be a one-day event.

If you can pass this on to any group(s) that may be interested in volunteering for this opportunity, please do so. Any interested parties can contact Ashley Lucas at
alucas.wscert@gmail.com.
