Hartland's Lake Country Playhouse has announced a star studded cast for its production of Little Women the Musical, with music by Jason Howland, lyrics by Mindi Dickstein, and book by Allan Knee. The Peninsula Arts and Humanities Alliance (PAHA) joins the Wisconsin Arts Board and Americans for the Arts in announcing the results of a comprehensive economic impact study of the nonprofit arts and culture industry conducted in Door County over the past two years. The study reveals that local nonprofit arts organizations generate $24.7 million in economic activity annually, resulting in nearly $2.5 million in local and state tax revenues, 632 in full-time equivalent jobs and $12.2 million in resident income.

Peninsula Players Hosts Pre-Show Seminar 'How Novels, Films Impact Tourism'

Peninsula Players Theatre, in conjunction with its production of the Tony Award-winning musical "The Bridges of Madison County" by Jason Robert Brown and Marsha Norman, will host a pre-show seminar Thursday, August 10 starting at 6:30 p.m. in the theater. "The Bridges of Madison County"first captured the nation's attention in 1992 when Robert James Waller's novel became a best-seller, then again in 1995 as a major motion picture starring Clint Eastwood and Meryl Streep. The film was shot on location in Madison County, Iowa and six covered bridges were featured.  Nowhere else in the Midwest can so many covered bridges be found so closely grouped together, thus Madison County and the bridges have become a tourist destination.

Bronzeville Arts Ensemble (BAE) is proud to name Sheri Williams Pannell as its new Artistic Director.  A stage director, playwright, theatre educator and performer, Pannell is a long-standing member of the Milwaukee theatre community. With Pannell's tenure also comes a new residency with Black Arts MKE. 'Bronzeville Arts Ensemble is fortunate to have had the opportunity to work in partnership with Milwaukee Repertory Theater over the past two years,' said Williams Pannell. 'Collaboration helps make theater happen, especially for relatively new companies like BAE. We are grateful to the Rep for their support and mentorship. Yet, the most challenging aspect of theater is fundraising and audience development. We believe Black Arts MKE's commitment to making local African American arts institutions more financially sound and capable of reaching a larger audience is essential to our growth and survival.'
