MSO Concerts Move to the Riverside Theater

By: Apr. 06, 2011

As a result of the mechanical malfunction on Uihlein Hall stage, it has been decided to move this weekend's Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra (MSO) Concerts to the Riverside Theater at 116 E. Wisconsin Avenue.

The MSO ticket staff has begun contacting patrons that have tickets for this weekend's performances. They will provide them with details regarding their specific tickets, information regarding parking and other important information. New ticket purchases for these concerts can be made by calling the MSO Ticket Office at 414-291-7605.

"We are working closely with the Marcus Center and the Riverside Theater to make the move as seemless as possible for our patrons," said Susan Loris, MSO spokesperson. "Fortunately we are still able to perform this weekend and ensure the safety of our musicians and staff while the repairs are being made to the shell."

A complex mechanical system used to set up components of the acoustical shell in Uihlein Hall malfunctioned on Tuesday, April 5 while the Marcus Center Staff was moving the shell into position on the stage. The malfunction has resulted in the ceiling portion of the shell being stuck in a mid-stage position. Fortunately, no one was injured during this incident.

"The mechanism that lowers the shell ceiling to the floor malfunctioned," said Steve Walker, Principal for Walker & Associates. "We are focusing on that area of the system and have begun repairing the problem."

Performances and events scheduled in the Marcus Center's Vogel Hall, Todd Wehr Theater, Peck Pavilion and Bradley Pavilion will not be impacted by this incident.
