Playhouse on the Square Adds 7/10 Performance of THE COLOR PURPLE

Due to the success of Playhouse on the Square's THE COLOR PURPLE, a performance has been added for Wednesday, July 10 at 8 p.m. The regular ticket price for the added performance is $35. The performance is on sale now and tickets may be purchased by calling 901-726-4656 or at playhouseonthesquare.org.

This musical adaptation of Alice Walker's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel is the story of Celie, a downtrodden young woman who, through love, finds strength and her own unique voice despite a lifetime of abuse and adversity. With a score filled with jazz, ragtime, blues, and gospel, THE COLOR PURPLE is a celebration of the healing power of love and the human will to persevere. Nominated for 11 Tony Awards in 2006 including Best Musical and Best Original Score.

Playhouse on the Square's proudction runs through July 14. Showtimes are 8 p.m. on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, 2 p.m. on Sundays, and 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 10.

Tickets are $40 Fridays and Saturdays. The regular price for all other dates is $35. A discounted price of $22 is available for seniors, students and members of the military. Tickets for children under 18 are $15.To purchase, call the box office at 901-726-4656 or visit playhouseonthesquare.org.
