Brooklyn Youth Chorus is seeking a full-time Director of Marketing & Communications with solid strategic and analytic capabilities, a deep understanding of digital marketing trends and technologies, and strong communications skills to develop and lead a comprehensive, integrated marketing and communications program with well-defined success metrics. The Director of Marketing & Communications is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating all of the Chorus?s advertising, media/public relations, ticketing, design, and digital initiatives across the organization?s core channels, as well as coordinating communications for internal audiences. As a member of the leadership team, the Director of Marketing & Communications will collaboratively operationalize Brooklyn Youth Chorus?s brand in support of the organization?s educational programs, artistic initiatives, and strategic mission.REPORTING RELATIONSHIPSThe Director of Marketing & Communications reports to the Chief Operating Officer, works in close collaboration with the Founder & Artistic Director and the Director of Development & Institutional Advancement, and the School Administrator, and serves as a member of the senior management team. The Director of Marketing & Communications will have the opportunity to define and hire a second full-time member of the department and will oversee external public relations, design, and video creation & production resources.RESPONSIBILITIESThe Director of Marketing & Communications will:Leadership & Strategic Planning:?Serve as a member of the leadership team together with the Director of Development & Institutional Advancement, Chief Operating Officer, and Founder & Artistic Director?Collaborate with leadership team on institutional strategic planning ?Lead the creation and execution of a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy that supports organization?s programmatic, artistic, and fundraising goals across all channels with defined, measurable success metrics?Work collaboratively across the organization to integrate our brand into all materials, communications, and channels including our physical space?Partner with Marketing Committee of the board to build a trusted group of skilled and experienced advisors to serve and support the Chorus?s marketing goals ?Identify, cultivate, and build strategic marketing partnerships to support program initiativesInstitutional Communications:?Manage and optimize relationships with all presenting and artistic partners?Build brand awareness through practical and targeted initiatives taking advantage of partners and collaborators to amplify limited marketing resources ?Create a robust digital marketing strategy that incorporates search engine optimization, social media, content strategy, and digital advertising ?Ensure the capture of all audio and visual content to continuously build out content library including hiring professional photographers and videographers as needed?Manage website through regular updating and optimization of content based on digital metrics analysis, maintain user access to the site?s members area, and oversee basic technical upgrades and maintenance?Collaborate with development to create a communications plan for all stakeholders that includes a detailed messaging strategy and channel plan (e.g., Social media calendar, eNewsletter schedule)?Develop a clear and engaging social media presence for the Chorus across platforms?Manage branded merchandise sales including creating new and tracking existing inventory and organizing sales at performances and program events throughout the seasonPerformance, Program & Development Marketing:?Create and implement targeted campaigns and produce digital and print collateral to support chorus performances, program recruitment, and development goals ?Partner with outside presenters and partner artists to create marketing materials and campaigns?Serve as front-of-house point person for self-produced concerts, including overseeing all ticket sales and hiring and managing part-time front-of-house and box office staff ?Develop and implement targeted recruitment strategies via digital and outreach campaigns to attract a diverse student body and fill classes?Coordinate and plan all promotional materials for annual community events?Support fundraising initiatives across channels and ensure development campaigns are seamlessly integrated into greater institutional branding and messagingPress/Public Relations:?Collaborate with publicist to develop and execute a comprehensive messaging and media strategy ?Serve as point of contact for all media requests?Own, track, and archive all press coverage and materialsCRM/Database:?Collaborate with program team and development team to update, manage, and maintain current and accurate constituent records and mail & e-mail lists (Mailchimp, Raiser?s Edge, and FileMaker) through well-defined CRM processes and procedures?Develop and maintain constituent reporting for all departmentsQUALIFICATIONS?Belief in the mission and core values of Brooklyn Youth Chorus?A minimum of 5 years of relevant marketing experience, with progressive experience in leadership and/or leading teams ?A strategic and analytical thinker who can translate short- and long-term goals into practical, implementable plans of action tied to evaluation and key performance indicators?A strong communicator with the ability to craft stories and communicate Brooklyn Youth Chorus's vision?Excellent written communication and oral presentation skills?Demonstrated success leading a team toward a common goal, emphasizing collaboration, respect, and high performance?Excellent time management and project management skills with the ability to drive multiple projects simultaneously?Experience developing, implementing, and evaluating successful marketing strategies, for artistic and/or educational organizations?Facility and competency working with digital marketing and social media technologies and platforms including comfort working with websites, email platforms, databases, and design programs including any of the following: Wordpress, Mailchimp, FileMaker, Adobe Creative Suite?Knowledge of and experience with New York City's arts, education, and arts education communities preferred?Flexibility to work some nights and weekends?Must hold a Bachelor's degree or higherCOMPENSATIONCommensurate with experience.
