This week one of the most anticipated events of the year took place in Milan, Fall/ Winter 2024. I had the amazing opportunity to Attend a Fashion show for the Brand Francesca Liberatore. The event was held inside the green room of the conservatory of Milan and It was a collaboration with the “La societá dei Concerti” (Society of the Concerts ) Milano Foundation. Fashion runways usually are very exclusive events usually reserved for journalists, Influencers, and members of the press; however, in this runway, there was a section of seats that were left for free for the general public.

This runway was super interesting as It was a combination of a fashion show with performance art. Something that I found particularly fascinating about this runway was the concept and how it paid homage to music.

In the middle of the stage, there was an orchestra that played Haydn’s Symphony No.45 in F  Sharp minor followed by Mozart’s Eine Kleine Nachtmusik. What Francesca Liberatore wanted to portray here is how most of the time when it comes to being part of an orchestra it is expected that the members of the orchestra dress in black so that the audience is not distracted from the music. However, in this instance, the members of the orchestra were all wearing bright colors (reminiscent of the baroque period) and eye-catching patterns whilst the models in the runway show were all wearing black. I had never thought about this before and I believe it is a very powerful statement to make.

I had one of the seats at the back of this concert hall so I thought I was not going to see any of the outfits up close as the models were walking in the bottom of the stage. However, to my surprise, the models wearing this very punk avant-garde look started walking up the stairs and in between the theater stalls. Once again defying my expectations and showing how fashion is still a way of expression, it is a form of art, and how it can be something that is immersive which has a narrative.

Overall, This fashion show was very enjoyable for me. Especially since it mixed my two favorite things. Fashion and performance. It made me reflect a lot on what a Fashion Runway could be.
