BroadwayWorld has learned that The Tramp Productions and Stuff Like That are to produce an Israeli revival of SWEENEY TODD, the legendary dark musical by Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler.

The musical will return to the Israeli stage in February 2017. Casting will be announced soon.

"We have some really exciting actors showing interest in the show," says Roi Dolev, the company's founder. "Some of Israel's brightest and most brilliant actors are now in negotiation to star in our SWEENEY TODD."

This is the second Sondheim written musical to be produced by Dolev's company. Just earlier this month they premiered Sondheim and James Lapine's INTO THE WOODS in Tel Aviv.

"It's actually quite a coincidence," Dolev confesses. "I almost exclusively produce only original material, with INTO THE WOODS being the only exception. However, I have learned through a friend that a country owned and controlled theatre was planning a production of SWEENEY TODD for the winter, and strongly believing that a country-owned theatre will not do justice to the show as an independent company would, I've decided to have my company do it."
