IU Violin Virtuosi Member Wins International Competition

Brian Allen, a 16-year-old member of the Violin Virtuosi and the String Academy Chamber Orchestra at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, won the Lions Clubs International Global Youth Music Competition at the 93rd annual Lions Clubs International Convention June 30 in Sydney, Australia. It was his first international competition.

Arts Council of Indianapolis Releases Guidelines for New Gallery Space

The Arts Council of Indianapolis is seeking proposals for its new 1,300 square foot gallery space located at 924 North Pennsylvania Street. The inaugural exhibition will open in October of 2010 and will last approximately one month.
IU Jacobs School of Music Alumnus Wins International Opera Competition

Ljubomir Puskaric, an alumnus of the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, received the gold medal in the Ondina Otta Opera Competition June 12 in the National Theater of Slovenia. The award includes a prize of 4,000 Euros and a performance with the Slovenian National Opera.
2010 USA International Harp Competition Winner Announced

The Buck Creek Players will continue their 2009-2010 season 'On the Home Front' with the Playhouse Players Youth Production of Disney's Alice in Wonderland Junior, sponsored in part by The Franklin Township Chamber of Commerce. Opening Friday, July 30, and running for two weekends through Sunday, August 8, curtain times will be at 8:00 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, with 2:30 p.m. matinees offered on Sundays. All performances will be held at the Buck Creek Playhouse on Indianapolis' southeast side at 11150 Southeastern Avenue. Tickets are $14 for adults and $12 for children, students, and senior citizens (ages 62 & older) and can be reserved by calling (317) 862-2270. Group discounts are available for parties of ten or more.

JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR, the Tony Award nominated, groundbreaking theatrical masterpiece by legendary writing team Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, will be playing only at Theatre at the Center, 1040 Ridge Road, Munster, IN, July 8 through August 8. The press performance will be July 11. The first collaboration between Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice to be performed on the professional stage, JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR is one of the most popular and enduring works ever created for the musical theatre.
