FMCT Announces Sensory Friendly Performance of THE TRUE STORY OF THE THREE LITTLE PIGS

Fargo Moorhead Community Theatre (FMCT) will offer the area's first sensory friendly performance in conjunction with their presentation of the musical, The True Story of the Three Little Pigs! This special Theatre for Young Audiences performance will be held Saturday, February 3 at 2:30pm at The Stage at Island Park.

Through careful consultation and guidance from area educators and autism professionals, FMCT furthers its mission of inclusion and arts access for all by welcoming children and families affected by Autism Spectrum Disorders and other sensory, social, and cognitive disabilities. To provide a supportive and welcoming environment for children and families, audience members are encouraged to bring their own manipulatives, comfort objects, and extra support items to the show.

Additional considerations by FMCT for this sensory friendly performance include: reduction of jarring sounds and flashing lights, a low level of light remaining on over the audience, consideration of talking or moving by audience members during the show, designating "Quiet Room" and "Take a Break" spaces, providing sensory supports (fidgets, earplugs, noise cancelling headphones) before the performance, and staffing additional paid and volunteer assistance. Pre-performance social narratives will also be available beginning January 29.

The True Story of the Three Little Pigs! puts the Big Bad Wolf on trial for the destruction and dismay he caused to three poor little pigs. But is the Wolf actually guilty, or can he shake off familiar accusations and convince an audience of skeptics that he is actually friend, not foe, to swine-kind? In this continuation of a classic tale, the audience decides the verdict at the end.

Tickets go on sale Monday, January 15 and can be purchased online at fmct.org or by phone at 701-235-6778. General admission tickets are $3/person with seating strictly limited to 100 people.
