PREPARATION
Please prepare a monologue from a classic or contemporary play of no more than 3 minutes in length. No self-written material, please. Actors will also be expected to provide a current headshot and resumé (8” x
10” and stapled, please).
Members of the Actors’ Equity Association (AEA) may be asked to present their membership card at auditions.

Hedda is disappointed by her dull marriage to scholar Jorgen Tesman. She attempts to distract herself by toying with her father’s prized pistols and engaging in lewd banter with frequent visitor Judge Brack. When news breaks that her longtime acquaintance Thea Elvstad left her husband for esteemed writer (and Hedda’s former suitor) Ejlert Lovborg, Hedda enacts a plot to humiliate Lovborg and reclaim her agency as a woman.

Nora is a curious writer who seeks to understand her friend and collaborator Katherine’s obsession with 20th-century French philosopher and activist Simone Weil. As their discussion deepens, Nora and Katherine embody scenes from Simone’s life in an attempt to communicate with her across time and space. Feeding on Light is based on playwright Lenora Champagne’s personal relationship and discussions with Undermain Theatre’s late Founding Artistic Director Katherine Owens, to whom the play is dedicated.
SIMONE—a philosopher and mystic, thin, awkward, clumsy, insistent, but can at times achieve an ethereal serenity

Deadly threatening enemies are standing outside the fragile walls of a city in a country unknown. The citizens continue to live their (miserable) comfortable lives. Military campaigns are rising, monies are being spent, industry is promising growth, but when iron and steel turn to dust and there is nothing left but empty promises, tragedy ensues. The city is under siege by an enemy of no name; an enemy who wears many masks. The challenge of survival looms—and what will we have to give up to remain human? Are we our own worst enemy? Examining the concepts and core themes of Seven Against Thebes, Danielle Georgiou and Justin Locklear’s adaptation explores the universal nature of this classic Greek tragedy.
