PREPARATION
Please prepare one vocal selection or two 16-bar vocal selections, appropriate for the season, that demonstrate vocal and dramatic range. Always bring your Equity Membership card to auditions. The producer will run all aspects of this audition. An Equity Monitor will not be provided.

CALOGERO
Male character. 20s to play Italian-American teenager and adult self. A likable guy, finding his way in the world. Smart, open, caring and coming of age. Torn between his role model, his father and a girl everyone tells him he shouldn’t care about.
YOUNG CALOGERO
Male character. 9 years old — child with unchanged voice. Smart, intuitive, observant and empathetic. Loves baseball.
SONNY
Male character. 50s, Italian-American. Powerful, charismatic, knows his strength and uses it. The number one man in the neighborhood and leader of The Wise Guys. Great style and charm which can turn instantly to venom. Paternal but ruthless when necessary.
LORENZO
Male character. 40s, Italian-American. Calogero’s father. Strong, heartfelt, stoic and empathetic. Works as a bus driver and loves his family. Grounded and honest.
ROSINA
Female character. 40s, Italian-American. Calogero’s mother. Warm, caring, decisive. Committed to the family.
JANE
Female character, African American. 18+ to play teenager. Striking, intelligent, and loyal. Developing leadership skills and stepping into her own voice and power.
TYRONE
Male character, African American. 18+ to play teenager; Jane’s brother.

TARZAN
Male character. 20s–30s. Raised by gorillas, native to the jungle. Athletic, curious and emotional. Driven to understand his place in the world and when he meets Jane — begins to question everything about his identity. Must be physically fit, agile and adventurous and very comfortable performing shirtless and in the traditional loincloth.
YOUNG TARZAN
Male character. Child with unchanged voice. Wildly curious, spirited and daring. Desperate to fit in with the family. Athletic, even acrobatic.
KERCHAK
Male character. 40s/50s. Authoritative leader of the gorillas. Powerful, stoic, loving but stern. Commanding voice and presence. Physical role.
KALA
Female character. 30s; Mother figure to Tarzan, warm, protective and maternal. A guiding force in the jungle. Physical role.
JANE
Female character. Early 20s; curious, intelligent, spirited, adventurous English girl dedicated to her anthropological studies. Open to the world and eager to understand it.
PORTER
Male character. 45–60; Jane’s father. Absent-minded, funny, endearing and warm.
CLAYTON / US KERCHAK
Male character. False charm and ruthless antagonist. Physically confident and focused on reward.
TERK
Male character. 20–30; Great presence and charm, comedic and loyal. Tarzan’s best friend and confidant with style and smarts. Great rock tenor who moves very well or dances.

BILLY BIGELOW
Male character. 25–40; An attractive and powerful presence. A charmer — but easily angered and used to dealing dismissively or violently with conflict. A good person at heart — but struggles under the weight of both his rage and his love. Hard-headed and troubled.
NARRATOR / BASCOMBE / STARKEEPER
Male character. 60s+. Commanding, gentle figure. Powerful and stoic with heart and warmth.
CARRIE PIPPERIDGE
Female character. 20s–30s. A lively, intelligent friend of Julie’s. She brings a light to the world. Engaged to Enoch Snow and excited about their conventional future together.
JULIE JORDAN
Female character. 20s–30s; Comes of age over time. Starts out shy and naive and grows into a quiet, wise, heartfelt woman who comes to understand the world through its hardships.
ENOCH SNOW
Male character. 30s; comedic tenor with range and presence. Set to marry Carrie and is focused on planning out their life together.
JIGGER CRAIGIN
Male character. 30s–50s; a smart hustler. A con man with grit and likability. Not to be trusted, he’s at once funny, influential and dangerous.
NETTIE FOWLER
Female character. 30s; Julie’s cousin, runs the local establishment; leader in the community and role model to young girls. Nettie’s maternal and full of heart, comedy and strength. A true friend.
MRS. MULLIN
Female character. 35–50s; owner of the carousel; widow; divisive and jealous of Billy’s affections to other girls, attractive with a tough edge to her.
LOUISE
Female character. 18+ to play teenager. Billy’s daughter. Struggling to find her way in the shadow of her father’s legacy. Compelling and principal dancer.
ROCK OF AGES

DREW
Male character. The ultimate good-guy rocker. Boyishly charming, emotionally open, and effortlessly funny. Drew works at the legendary Bourbon Room, waiting for his big break — until he meets Sherrie, who pushes him to finally go for it. Excellent comedic timing and a killer rock tenor voice. Age range: 20s–30s. Vocal Range: Bb3–D5.
SHERRIE
Female character. Sweet, hopeful Midwestern girl who hops off the bus and straight into the wild world of the Sunset Strip. Big heart, big dreams, and bigger vocals. Strong comedic timing, a powerful rock belt, and solid movement ability. Age range: 20s–30s. Vocal Range: G3–F5.
LONNY / RECORD COMPANY MAN
Male character. Our narrator and resident instigator. Charming, mischievous, welcoming, and the guy you’d trust with one unforgettable (possibly regrettable) night out. Quick on their feet with strong improv skills, sharp comedy, and strong rock vocals. Age range: 30s–50s. Vocal Range: D3–D5.
DENNIS DUPREE / RECORD COMPANY MAN
Male character. The lovable stoner who runs the iconic Bourbon Room. Laid-back, hilarious, and deeply conflicted about selling out the club. A true rock-and-roll lifer. Top-tier comedic timing and bari-tenor rock vocals. Age range: 40s–50s. Vocal Range: D3–G4.
HERTZ KLINEMANN
Male character. An attractive older German male. Uptight, cold, intimidating businessman trying to buy up the Strip to develop it. The bad guy of the piece. Strong comedic timing and baritone vocals. Age range: 40–60. Vocal Range: F3–G#4.
FRANZ KLINEMANN
Male character. Hertz’s shy, sweet son. A young German man working for his intimidating father — not by choice. Awkward, gentle, and secretly brave, with a big heart and surprising depth. Age range: 20s–30s. Vocal Range: Db3–E5.
REGINA / CANDI
Female character. Free-spirited, fun-loving hippie chick who passionately fights to save the Strip. Bold, fearless, and funny, with strong comedic timing and a belt that can stop traffic. Age range: mid 20s–30s. Vocal Range: A3–Eb5.
STACEE JAXX / FATHER
Male character. A dangerously sexy rock god. Recently left his wildly successful hair-metal band to go solo. Magnetic, self-obsessed, and irresistible in all the wrong ways. Excellent comedic timing and a powerhouse rock tenor. Age range: 30s–40s. Vocal Range: C3–Eb5.
JUSTICE / MOTHER
Female character. Commanding, sensual, and deeply protective. Once a performer, now the owner of a strip club where Sherrie lands. A fierce maternal presence with wisdom, humor, and heart. Has strong, soulful vocals and belt. Age range: 40s–60s. Vocal Range: G3–Db5.
