ENSEMBLE SINGERS/DANCERS — Characters are all genders (cis, trans, and non-binary) and backgrounds to portray white and Black teenagers in 1960s Baltimore. Ensemble performers will portray dancers on The Corny Collins Show (Tammy, Brenda, Shelley, Lou Ann, Brad, Fender, Sketch, IQ) as well as The Motormouth Kids (Gilbert, Stooie, etc.). May play other featured roles as well. Exceptional dance ability with strong vocal and acting skills. VOCAL RANGES: ALL TYPES.
THE DYNAMITES — Characters are female (cis, trans, or non-binary). Black, late teens to 20s. The Dynamites are a talented 60’s vocal trio who are featured in many numbers and usually in tight harmony. VOCAL RANGE: Soprano, Mezzo and Alto.

ENSEMBLE SINGERS/DANCERS — Seeking extremely strong singers and dancers of all genders, ethnicities, abilities and types, to portray various roles throughout the show. The ensemble will make up the band of various fairytale creatures and all the character specialties will come from here. Puppetry skills are a plus.
GINGY/ENSEMBLE — Any gender, age 20–40, any ethnicity. A gingerbread man initially kidnapped by Lord Farquaad. His wit and resolution help him both avoid trouble and inspire the rest of the fairytale creatures. Must have comedic chops. Experience with puppetry is a plus. Can be operated by the actor appearing as Sugar Plum Fairy. VOCAL RANGE: B3–C#5.

NURSES / FEMALE ENSEMBLE — Characters are female (cis, trans, or nonbinary). American, any ethnicity, 20s–40s. Navy nurses stationed on the island. Bright, supportive, witty, and committed to duty. They want connection and moments of joy amid wartime stress. Strong singers of all voice types. Strong dancers with excellent ballet and jazz technique.
LOCALS / ENSEMBLE — Characters are all genders (cis, trans, and non-binary). Polynesian and Tonkinese (Vietnamese) people, all ages. They represent the life, movement, and spirit of the island. Tonkinese people who traveled to the island as indentured servants and folks indigenous to the island. All trying to adapt to their rapidly changing world. Southeast Asian and Pacific Islander dancers of all ages and genders with excellent ballet and jazz technique.
SAILORS / SEABEES / MALE ENSEMBLE — Characters are male (cis, trans, or nonbinary). American, any ethnicity, 18–40. Boisterous, irreverent, and full of camaraderie. They want excitement and distraction from the war. Strong singers (tenor/baritone/bass). Strong, athletic dancers with excellent ballet and jazz technique.

Strong, technically trained dancers in jazz/ballet with a knack for athletic physicality. Tap skills are required for some tracks. Must also sing very well. Ensemble members play the following roles: Race, Albert, Muriel, Nancy, Specs, Pigtails, Hazel, Buttons, Tommy Boy, Romeo, Jo Jo, Scabs, Brooklyn Newsies, Spot Conlon, Oscar & Morris Delancey.
ENSEMBLE SINGERS — Seeking extremely strong singers of all genders, ethnicities, abilities and types, to portray various character roles throughout the show. Ages 16–22, 20s–40s, and 50s–60s. Strong singing voices and strong movement ability. These include the following roles: Nuns, Wiesel, Nunzio, Mr. Jacobi, Mayor, Seitz, Bunsen, Hannah, Snyder, Governor Teddy Roosevelt & others.

ENSEMBLE / DENNIS EDWARDS & OTHERS — Character is male (cis, transgender, or non-binary). 20s–30s. Black. Lead singer of The Temptations after David Ruffin. A vocal powerhouse with the ego to match. Also plays Straight Talk Fella and Delivery Man. Tenor/Baritone. Gospel sound a plus. Strong dancer.
ENSEMBLE / ELBRIDGE “AL” BRYANT & OTHERS — Character is male (cis, transgender, or non-binary). 20s–30s. An original member of the group who didn’t last long due to his hot temper. Also plays Norman Whitfield, a writer of some of The Temps’ biggest hits, et al. Tenor. Strong dancer.
ENSEMBLE / RICHARD STREET & OTHERS — Character is male (cis, transgender, or non-binary). 20s–30s. Black. An aspiring singer who stepped in at certain performances until becoming a full-fledged member later on in The Temps’ career. Also plays Offstage Gang. Tenor. Strong dancer.
ENSEMBLE / SMOKEY ROBINSON & OTHERS — Character is male (cis, transgender, or non-binary). 20s–30s. Black. The Temptations’ songwriter that put the group on the map. A legendary singer in his own right. Strong tenor. Strong dancer.
ENSEMBLE / LAMONT & OTHERS — Character is male (cis, transgender, or non-binary). 20s. Black. Otis Williams’ son. Strong tenor. Strong dancer.
ENSEMBLE / SHELLY BERGER — Character is male (cis, transgender, or non-binary). 20s–40s. Caucasian. Not your typical Motown manager. Character man; his quick wit and level head helps The Temptations achieve their success. Also plays Judge and TV Announcer. Strong tenor.
ENSEMBLE / JOSEPHINE — Character is female (cis, transgender, or non-binary). 20s–30s. Black. Otis’ teenage wife who grows up fast. She takes care of their son while he’s on the road. Alto / Very High Belt. Strong dancer.

WARREN SHEFFIELD / ENSEMBLE — Character is male (cis, trans, or non-binary), 18–24, any ethnicity. From a good family in Clayton, Warren has had a crush on Rose since they met as kids. He is trying to get up the nerve to ask her to marry him. Gentle, nervous and kind.
LUCILLE BALLARD / ENSEMBLE — Character is female (cis, trans, or non-binary), 18–24, any ethnicity. A recent transplant from New York. Lucille is sharp, witty and very forward. She finds St. Louis ‘quaint,’ but looks forward to returning to New York to study at Barnard. She has her eyes set on John Truitt.

FEMALE ENSEMBLE DANCERS — Characters are female (cis, trans, or non-binary), age 20s to late 30s, all ethnicities. Strong dancers who can tap and sing very well. Will portray various character parts throughout the show and will understudy principal roles.
MINSTREL / ENSEMBLE — Character is male (cis, trans, or non-binary), 20s–40s, Black. Must have a soaring high tenor voice, tons of charisma and an amazing sense of comic timing. Must tap dance very well. VOCAL RANGE: C#3–A4.
