BREAKDOWN

MRS. GROSE / MISS JESSEL – 50s, versatile, physical actor. Mrs. Grose is a longtime subservient and unobtrusive housekeeper of an old, isolated estate, Bly Manor. She cares deeply for those around her, but she is bound to the conventions of her time to a fault. Miss Jessel is a well-brought up, sensual and terrifying former governess of the Bly children.

DOUGLAS / QUINT – 30s-40s, versatile, physical actor. Douglas is a mysterious narrator. Quint is a clever, charming, and chilling personal valet of the wealthy uncle and was previously given charge of Bly Manor and children.

MISS – 20 years old, Bly Manor is her first job as a governess. Sensitive to the slightest shifts around her, imaginative and romantic, she pursues her work with the devotion of a fanatic. She's a calm, assured, charming force...Until she's not. Once she arrives at an opinion, she is unshakable.

Unless textually specified, all roles are open to actors of all races, ethnicities, genders and abilities, and actors of all identities are strongly encouraged to audition.
