Equity actors for roles in THT Repertory's 2025-26 Season (See breakdown). Actors from out-of-town are encouraged to audition.

PREPARATION

Please prepare a 60-second Shakespearean monologue. Please bring two copies of your headshot and resume, stapled together, and please be prepared to demonstrate any special skills listed.

All rehearsals will be held on the campus of The Hanover Theatre and Conservatory for the Performing Arts in downtown Worcester, MA. All performances will take place in the BrickBox Theater at the Jean McDonough Arts Center.

An Equity Monitor will not be provided. The producer will run all aspects of this audition.

DOUBT, A PARABLE

SYNOPSIS

In a 1960s Catholic school in the Bronx, Sister Aloysius questions Father Flynn’s affections for young Donald Muller, the school's first black student. Winner of the 2005 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and Tony® Award for Best Play.

SEEKING

SISTER ALOYSIUS. Female presenting, 60s-80s, white. An austere nun of the old guard who serves as Principal in the Catholic school in which the play is set. She holds strong to her beliefs, opinions and convictions, come hell or high water.

FATHER FLYNN. Male presenting, 30s-40s, any ethnicity. A young, likable priest with views on the liberal side. Perhaps Sister Aloysius suspects he is gay?

SISTER JAMES. Female presenting, 20s-40s, any ethnicity. A younger, gentler foil to Sister Aloysius. Like the audience, Sister James is forced by the events of the play to grapple with complexities of faith and doubt.

MRS. MULLER. Female presenting, 20s-40s, black. Mother to Donald Muller, the first black student to enroll in the Catholic school in which the play takes place. She is protective and pragmatic.

At turns dark and darkly funny, this annual production is staged as a séance, conjuring two of Poe’s most notorious narrators.

WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE’S A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM

SYNOPSIS

Set in a 1980s queer nightclub called The Wood, this midwinter take on Midsummer is equal parts poetry and punk rock.

HELENA. Female presenting, 20s, any ethnicity. In love Demetrius. This role requires intimacy including kissing, partial nudity, and demanding physicality.

LYSANDRA. Female presenting/non-binary, 20s, any ethnicity. In love with Hermia. This role requires intimacy including kissing, partial nudity, and demanding physicality.

DEMETRIUS. Male presenting, 20s, any ethnicity. In love (at different times) with Hermia and Helena. This role requires intimacy including kissing, partial nudity, and demanding physicality.

TITANIA. This role is CAST. Actors will be considered for understudy/emergency replacement. Female presenting, 40s-50s, any ethnicity. Queen of the Fairies. Think Cher, Stevie Nicks, etc. This role requires intimacy, including kissing.

FAIRIES (3). Any gender, any age, any ethnicity. Titania’s entourage. Think 80s club kids. These roles require movement/dancing/singing.
