auditions@gammtheatre.org. In e-mail, please offer a preferred time-block of two hours on one of the two days. Specific slot will be e-mailed back. E-mail is preferred; if no access to e-mail, call 401/723-4266, x18. Equity Members without appointments will be seen throughout each audition day, as time permits.

Each performer will be allotted a minimum of three minutes and a maximum of five minutes. Equity Members: Please prepare one Shakespeare monologue (60-120 seconds, preferably verse), and/or any other material (including a scene or scenes from the season's plays). Reader provided. Two perusal copies of each play will be available at StageSource's Boston office, 88 Tremont St., Ste. 714, Boston at least 10 days before the audition. Copies will also be available at the auditions.

Please bring a picture & resume, stapled back-to-back.

Callbacks for individual plays may be scheduled as needed.

All listed roles are available unless otherwise specified. In addition to being considered for available roles, auditioning performers will be considered as possible replacements for pre-cast roles, should any become necessary.

Circle Mirror Transformation by Annie Baker. Dir: Rachel Walshe. 1st reh: 8/16/11. Runs 9/8-10/9.

James:

50. Marty’s husband. Gentle, but complex and engaging.

Schultz:

Late 40s. A carpenter; working-class. Affable. Sad. Funny.

Theresa:

Mid – late 30s. Former actress, retreating home. At a crossroads.

Lauren:

16-17. Tough, enthusiastic, ambitious.

The role of Marty is cast.

haMleT by Shakespeare. Dir: Fred Sullivan, Jr. 1st reh: 10/15/11. Runs 11/3-12/11.

Theatre’s casting note: “All roles [require actors who] have strong command of Shakespearean language.”

Claudius:

Commanding, attractive and charming.

Gertrude:

50s. Hamlet’s mother. Every inch a queen. Charming, vivacious. At an emotional crossroads.

Ghost of Hamlet’s Father / Player King / Gravedigger:

40s-50s. Actor needs great command of language (verse and prose), gravity and expert comic skills.

Ophelia:

Late 20s, early 30s. Strong. Tender. Capable of great emotional vulnerability.

Laertes:

20s-30s. Brash. Over-protective. Charismatic. Physically strong and agile. Combat skills a must.

Horatio:

Hamlet’s best friend. Intellectual. All integrity.

The roles of Hamlet and Polonius are cast.

Festen by David Eldridge, adapted from the film by Thomas Vinterberg. Dir TBA. 1st reh: Mid-

December, 2011. Runs 1/12/12 – 2/12/12.

Christian:

30s. Appears stoical and calm, but has incredible emotional depth.

Michael:

Christian’s slightly younger brother. Impetuous, angry and very funny.

Helene:

Christian and Michael’s sister. A bit adrift. Sad, complex.

Mette:

Michael’s wife. Plays the victim, but is tougher than she first appears.

Helge:

Man, 60. The patriarch. Domineering. Powerful. Charming.

Else:

50s. Helge’s wife. Quiet. Unsettled.

Pia:

A servant in the household. Very pretty, coy.

Gbatokai:

Man of African descent, 30s. Helene’s boyfriend. Funny. Tough.

BOOM by Peter Sinn Nachtrieb. Dir: Fred Sullivan, Jr. 1st reh: Mid-February, 2012. Runs 3/8/12 – 4/8/12.

Jules:

Late 20s. Brilliant, gay graduate student in Biology. Advanced comic skills required.

Jo:

Early 20s. Tough. High-energy. Advanced comic skills required.

Barbara:

40s. Museum curator. Smart, ironic. Very funny, dry.

1984 by George Orwell. Adaptation: Nick Lane. Dir: Tony Estrella. 1st reh: 4/10/12. Runs 5/3/12 – 6/3/12.

Winston Smith:

30-40s. Complex, brave, cowardly. Desperate and under siege.

“Ensemble”:

Two men and two women. Actors must be incredibly versatile, able to play a variety of roles and ages. High energy and complexity.
