CASTING NOTE: He/Him pronouns denote male-identifying characters, and She/Her pronouns denote female-identifying characters. However limiting these descriptions are, our casting seeks to be as inclusive as possible, and we invite gender non-conforming, genderqueer, transgender, and non-binary actors to submit for the roles they most identify with.
SEEKING:
DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. (He/Him. 35-44. Black – Southern) Famed civil rights leader Dr. King is a weary, exhausted, and burdened 39-year-old preacher and Nobel Peace Prize winner. He is portrayed not as a perfect icon but as an ordinary man grappling with self-doubt, fear, and the immense pressure of his public role.
CAMAE (short for Carrie Mae) THIS ROLE IS CAST. UNDERSTUDIES WILL BE CONSIDERED. (She/Her. 20s - 30s. Black – Southern) A charismatic, rebellious, and foul-mouthed maid. She is later revealed to be an angel sent by God to guide King into the afterlife. She is a reflection of King’s desires and a catalyst for him to face his legacy and mortality.
