SYNOPSIS: For a long time, LIL has been obsessed with fighting, and one fighter in particular: her older brother BIG, an aging but successful figure in the local Mixed Martial Arts circuit. But she’s been doing it all from afar until one day when she decides to show up on his doorstep. Written and directed by Ngozi Anyanwu (Good Grief, The Homecoming Queen, The Last of the Love letters) this world premiere co-production with Two River Theater is a sibling love story about reunions, resentment, reconnection, and wrestling with demons.
BIG: 30s-40s. Black, tattooed, masculine. LIL's older brother. A Mixed Martial Arts fighter on their way out. Strong, but not that tough. Keeps their feelings close to the chest. Doesn't talk much but when they do it's searingly honest. Observant. Wishes for more than they've had; different things than they've had. Physically imposing. A strong mover.
LIL: 20s. Black, feminine. BIG's younger sister. A Mixed Martial Arts fighter on their way up. Strong, but not that tough. Scrappy. Wears their heart on their sleeve. Talks a lot but takes a while to get to the truth. Yearning. A cheeky, vibrating ball of potential; give them a shot and watch them capitalize. Physically a match for BIG - strong/tall/solid. A strong mover.
