[DAVE] Male, Late 50s. A former British soldier who served in Northern Ireland during “The Troubles”. He is haunted by a night out where his best friend was taken, tortured, and killed by the IRA during a “Honey Trap” operation. For several decades he has battled with alcoholism, depression, and PTSD. Divorced and estranged from his only daughter. Northern English dialect.
[SONIA] Female, Late 50s. Irish. Divorced. Has an extremely dry sense of humor and a sadness about her. Lived in America for a long time, but came back when “The Troubles” calmed down to open a cafe in Belfast. Has complicated feelings about her time in the IRA, and memories that she tries very hard to forget. She is a bit careworn, but is still striking and beautiful. Belfast dialect.
[EMILY] Female, 20s. An Irish American PHD Candidate and researcher. She is conducting an oral history project which captures the testimonies of British soldiers and their experiences during “The Troubles” in Northern Ireland. She is passionate about history’s role in helping us understand the present. She is precise, extremely detail-oriented, and naturally curious. American accent.
[YOUNG DAVE] Male, Early 20s. A British Soldier. A bit of a loudmouth, who tries hard with the ladies. Cocky and aggressive, he has learned that life can be short and dangerous so should be lived out loud. He is streetwise and a bit world worn. Has a complicated relationship with his wife back home. Northern English dialect.
[BOBBY] Male, Early 20s. A British Soldier. Joined up because he was sick of being on the dole. Shy and quite gentle, but very loyal to his friends. Looks up to Young Dave like a big brother. A bit naive about the ways of the world. He calls his missus back home every day. Northern English dialect.
[KIRSTY] Female, Early 20s. Irish. An IRA Volunteer. Has a beaming smile and a sharp wit. Organized and focused. Difficult to impress. Northern Irish dialect.
[LISA] Female, Early 20s. Irish. An IRA Volunteer. Has an extremely dry sense of humor, but also a very sensitive side that makes it seem like she can see into your soul. Has an air of playful danger about her. Belfast dialect.
