SYNOPSIS: (Romantic Comedy) When Thomas offers to fund Deb’s dream-career of landscape painting, they begin The Art Tour: a journey across the United States, creating and selling art as they travel. They hike mountains, paint breathtaking views of the ocean, and begin to fall in love. As the journey grows more difficult, and no one will buy Deb’s paintings, their love for each other becomes fractured, and The Art Tour begins to fail miserably. Eventually, Thomas and Deb are forced to question the value of art, and to see if love can overcome the great obstacles of life.
THOMAS - ANY ETHNICITY. A man in his 30s. Lives and works in Manhattan. Trying to climb the ladder as a marketing consultant. His perfectionism and extreme work ethic have driven him to become a high-anxiety workaholic, affecting his relationships with co-workers and threatening his employment. TENOR.
DEB - ANY ETHNICITY. A woman in her 30s. Lives in Engelman Colorado, a touristy ski resort town in the mountains. She works at the local art gallery and at the pizzeria. She has dreams to be a successful landscape painter. Her mother died when she was a child, and her father raised her on the beautiful family ranch. Her father’s health makes it difficult for him to maintain work, so Deb works two jobs to support them. MEZZO-SOPRANO WITH A HIGH MIX BELT.
