CONTRACT

SPT Minimum - $392/wk

SEEKING

Seeking multiple roles for our 2020 Season. Performers of all racial and ethnic backgrounds are encouraged to attend.

PREPARATION

You will have 3.5 minutes to perform 2 contrasting pieces of your choosing. One of your pieces can be a song. An accompanist will be provided.

STEEL MAGNOLIAS

Truvy Jones - Owns the beauty shop. Vivacious. Dispenses advice with a lot of hairspray.

Annelle Dupue-Desoto - Newly Hired Assistant. Moves from unsure, to wild, to religious.

Clairee Belcher - Widow of former mayor. Grande dame. Elegant, sophisticated, a true beauty.

Shelby Eatenton-Lacherie - Prettiest girl in town. Loves pink. Strong-willed, passionate.

M'lynn Eatento - Shelby's mother. Always knows what's best. Strong, stubborn, the heart of the piece.

Ouiser (pronounced Weezer) Boudreaux - Wealthy curmudgeon. Tough, eccentric character.

BABETTE'S FEAST

Babette - A mysterious French woman.

Martine - Elder daughter (by one year) of the Dean.

Philippa - Younger daughter of the Dean

Player#1 - Narration, also plays the Dean, the Dresser, Skipper Halvorson, and the Postman

Player #2 - Narration, also plays a Suitor named Lars, Erna, the Lady of the Swedish Court, and Dagfinn the Fishmonger

Player #3 - Narration, also plays Achille Papin, Alf, and the Horse Groom to Old Mrs. Loewenhielm

Player #4 - Narration, also plays Loewenhielm and Espen

Player #5 - Narration, also plays a Suitor named Hans, Young Loewenhielm, the Red-haired Boy- named Lief, and Osvald

Player # 6 - Narration, also plays Aunt Loewenhielm, Astrid, and Henrick the Bread Seller

Ida - Plan but likeable village girl about 18 years of age.

Miss Skillton - A large, rather sour woman of 35.

The Reverend Lionel Toop - A man of 36. Medium height, pleasant-faced.

Penelope Toop (his wife) - She is a pretty woman of 25.

The Intruder - A man in prison denim.

The Bishop of Lax - A large jovial-looking man.

The Reverend Arthur Humphrey - He is a mild little man.

Sergeant Towers - Cockney in the uniform of a British Sergeant.

THE SPITFIRE GRILL

Percy Talbot - Early 20's, pretty if a bit rough-edged. Her accent has a souther Appalachian cadence. Strong folk/country belt to D. Some head voice required.

Hannah Ferguson - A tough-skinned and flinty old bird with a short, no-nonsense manner bordering on the bitter. Mezzo/alto chest range.

Shelby Thorpe - Mid 30s, a plain, soft-faced creature with a shy, almost ethereal manners. Clear folk soprano with strong high belt to D.

Caleb Thorpe - Early 40s, frustrated working man clinging to the past Solid folk/rock voice with an edge. Top: G

Sheriff Joe Sutter - Mid-late 20s. Small town policeman with a restless nature. Strong folk tenor to a G (touches an A)

Effy Krayneck - 50s, postmistress and the town busybody. Mezzo/alto chest range. Must carry harmony.

The Visitor - Male 40s - 50s

Matheson - Narrator, Matt, Fine Lady

Ryan - Old Woman, Boatswain Two, Mickey, The Captain, Bartley, Young Woman

Curtis - Boatswain One, Llewellyn

Ben - Butcher, Callahan, Perry

Dan - Accordian, Mabelu, Piano

Arya - Fishmonger, Clerk, Drum, Cookie, Carpenter, Solomon
