What if you could hear the difference between the truth and a lie? What would it do to your home life? Suprema is the strange-but-true, three-way love story about the creator of both Wonder Woman and the lie-detector test, and the two real women who inspired him.

SEEKING (roles are available unless otherwise specified; check notice again for possible casting updates):

Note: SUPREMA takes place from 1933-1942, so none of the performers should feel too contemporary.

WILLIAM MOULTON MARSTON, early 40s (early 30s in flashbacks). A charming, driven idealist, handsome if a bit stout. An all-American family man with a kinky underbelly. Maybe more of a visionary than a genius, he has trouble sticking with one career. A touch of P.T. Barnum-flamboyance in him. Baritone.

ELIZABETH MARSTON, early 40s (early 30s in flashbacks). The realist in the family – Skeptical in a way that endears us to her. A bit more frowsy and earthbound than Olive, but not asexual. Passionate and headstrong. Also plays DIANA RYAN, a nurse. Mezzo-Soprano.

OLIVE BYRNE, mid 30s (mid 20s in flashbacks). Dark-haired, beautiful in a slightly severe way. Unflappable, game for anything, the most sexually liberated character. But more serious as the play progresses, more haunted by the war. Also plays SUPREMA, a superheroine. Mezzo-Soprano.

PETE MARSTON, William and Olive’s son, ages from 8 to 10. Sensitive and poetic, especially as he grows older.

CAPTAIN TRAINOR, Update, posted 4.19.12: Role previously listed as available has now been CAST. Auditioning performers will be considered as possible (emergency) replacements, should any become necessary. a handsome pilot in his mid-20s. Cornfed, all-American boy. Probably blonde. Must be a chameleon, as he also plays CORPORAL ANDREWS (a much more realistic, wounded American soldier), MR. KLIEGEL (a working-class hothead), and MILKMAN. Baritone-Tenor.

M.C. GAINES, Update, posted 4.20.12: Role previously listed as available has now been CAST. Auditioning performers will be considered as possible (emergency) replacements, should any become necessary. President of All American Comics, 50s. Crusty, scary, driven businessman and functioning alcoholic. With a bit of a decadent twinkle in his eye. Also plays JACK PACKARD, a smarmy radio host, an AIR RAID WARDEN, and an OLD MAN. Bass-Baritone.

DOROTHY, CAST. Auditioning performers will be considered as possible (emergency) replacements, should any become necessary. Gaines’s new secretary, 20s. The wide-eyed girl next door, with an untapped erotic curiosity. Humorously frazzled, in over her head. Very period. Must be a great chameleon, as she also plays MRS. KLIEGEL, an AMAZON WOMAN, DOC TOXIC (a nefarious Japanese spy), LOTTIE (a butch factory worker), and NEIGHBOR LADY. Mezzo, belt.

OLIVE ANN MARSTON, CAST. Auditioning performers will be considered as possible (emergency) replacements, should any become necessary. William and Elizabeth’s daughter, ages from 8 to 10. Increasingly a tomboy as she grows older. The more feisty, scrappy, and bold of the two children.
