INSTRUCTIONS TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT:
Please e-mail caitlin@stonehamtheatre.org for a five-minute appointment. Give your name, e-mail address, the best phone number by which to reach you and, if applicable, the hour in which you prefer to be seen. You will receive an e-mail that confirms your audition time. Performers without e-mail access may call (781)279-7885x124 Monday through Wednesday, 10am-6pm, for an appointment. Equity Members without appointments will be seen throughout the audition day, as time permits.


PREPARATION INSTRUCTIONS
Non-musical auditions: actors may choose to perform one or more monologues of their choice, read one or more scenes from the season’s plays, or a combination of scene(s) and monologues(s) within the confines of the time allotted. In attendance: Weylin Symes, Producing Artistic Director, and Caitlin Lowans, Associate Artistic Director.

Musical auditions: In addition to preparing a brief song, actors may choose to perform one or more monologues of their choice, read one or more scenes from the season’s plays, or a combination of song(s), scene(s) and monologues(s) within the confines of the time allotted. Bring sheet music; an accompanist will be provided on Thursday, April 23 ONLY. We will consider anyone who attends the musical audition day for both plays and musicals. In attendance: Producing Artistic Director, Associate Artistic Director, Caitlin Lowans, Associate Artistic Director, Ilyse Robbins, Director/Choreographer of Sweet Charity and Jim Rice, Musical Director of A Funny Thing Happened… and Sweet Charity.

A reader will be provided for those who wish to read from scripts. Copies of the scripts are available at StageSource (15 Channel Center Street, Suite 103, Boston) for review prior to the audition, and will be available at the audition.

Please bring a picture and resume, stapled together.

A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE FORUM

Senex
An older man, but one still attracted to wine, women, and song, Senex is the perennially henpecked husband.

Domina
The battle-ax wife of Senex, Domina is not only domineering, but proud (ALREADY CAST)

Hero
Handsome son of Senex and Domina, Hero is a lovesick juvenile who schemes with Pseudolus how he can win the hand of Philia.

Hysterium
Slave of Senex and Domina, Hysterium is the frantic and frenetic straw boss of all the slaves in the household.

Pseudolus (also plays Prologus)
A slave of Hero, Pseudolus is sly, conniving, and willing to do anything for his freedom.

Lycus
The owner of the brothel, Lycus is the snaky, slimy, lecherous procurer of courtesans.

Philia
The beautiful and young, yet dumb, Philia is a courtesan-in-training, contracted to be sold to Miles Gloriosus. She and Hero are in love.

Erronius
A befuddled old man who is partially blind and always confused.

Miles Gloriosus
A handsome, strong and pompous roman soldier.

Proteans
Three to four comic, physical actors (male or female) of various sizes and shapes to play various roles throughout the production.
