NOTE: All characters are Black American and/or of African descent. Actors with great comedy skills and access to West African accents are especially encouraged to submit.
[ FALSTAFF ] He/him. Late 40s-50s. Black American, the neighborhood trickster. Harlem born and bred. Outrageously boastful and vain, he still considers himself the man, the myth, the legend of 116th Street. A boisterous, mischievous, and cowardly con artist, constantly chasing after big money, beautiful women, booze, and a snack. A comedic powerhouse, excelling on heightened language and physicality.
[ MADAM NKECHI FORD ] She/her. 40s. Nigerian, an entrepreneur and laundromat owner. Clever, glamorous, resourceful, and self-assured. A cool-headed schemer who does not have time for men’s shortsighted foolishness. Loyal, true, and steadfast, but not without bite and humor. A fan favorite in the Real Housewives of 116th Street franchise, unflinchingly confident as she teaches these boys a hard lesson through some humiliating hijinks with her best friend MADAM EKUA PAGE. Vivacious, strong, and independent.
[ MADAM EKUA PAGE ] She/her. 40s. Ghanaian, a socialite. Sweet, warm, funny, and deceptively cunning. A proper lady, dressed to the nines. Taken aback by FALSTAFF’s audaciously flirty letter, she teams up with her best friend to teach him a humiliating lesson.
[ MISTER NDUKA FORD ] He/him. 40s. Nigerian. A successful businessman and neighbor, MISTER FORD has status, financial security, and unfortunately, the capacity for ferocious jealousy. He will go to ridiculous lengths to uncover the truth about his wife’s potential infidelity with Harlem’s most boastful bachelor.
[ MISTER KWAME PAGE ] He/him. 40s. Ghanaian, well-intentioned and kind. Husband to MADAM EKUA PAGE and father to ANNE PAGE. A devoted and trusting partner, he believes securing ANNE a sensible match is an act of parental love.
[ ANNE PAGE ] She/her. 20s. Ghanaian, beautiful, and intelligent. A dutiful daughter who is completely disinterested in following others' misguided romantic attempts. She hopes to gain her parents’ approval for her true love, FENTON.
[ DOCTOR CAIUS ] He/him. 30s-40s. Senegalese, the flashy neighborhood doctor. Known to be huffy and irritable but has strong comedic potential.
[ PASTOR EVANS ] He/him. 30s-40s. Liberian, the loving neighborhood pastor and community elder invested in bettering his community.
[ MAMA QUICKLY ] She/her. 40s-50s. Nigerian, the fun-loving/scheming “Auntie” of the block. Spunky and lively, she is often bought into the workings of romance.
[ SHALLOW ] He/him. 40s-60s. Nigerian, well-intentioned and affable, acting as a schemer for love and marriage.
[ FENTON/SIMPLE ] She/they. 20s. FENTON: Ghanaian, honest and pure. SIMPLE: Black American, errand runner, full of swagger.
[ PISTOL/SLENDER ] He/him. 20s-30s. PISTOL: FALSTAFF's minion. SLENDER: Nigerian, gentle and nervous, trying to win ANNE PAGE's affection.
[ ENSEMBLE ] All genders, 20s-40s, Black. ENSEMBLE includes expressive, funny, and flexible actors to build out a modern-day Harlem.
