PREPARATION

Please prepare a two-minute contemporary monologue (memorized). Vocalists should also submit 16 bars of a song of their choosing. Prior to monologue/song please state your name and title of the piece.

At Truvy’s Salon there are a few guarantees: First, you’ll have a fantastic day of beauty. Second, you’ll catch up on all the hot gossip and third, you’ll never cry alone. Six women in Chinquapin, Louisiana find laughter, community and strength as they navigate the joys and challenges of life including a wedding, a pregnancy, an illness and a loss. These six remarkable women hold one another up in a play that celebrates the power of community.

SEEKING:

TRUVY (W, 40s, Any Race) - Owner of the Beauty Salon - big heart, lots of enthusiasm, witty, caretaker.
M’LYNNE (W, 50s, Any Race) - Mother of Shelby, busy, confident, overprotective, likes to be in control.
SHELBY (W, 20s, Any Race) - Open, optimistic, practical, living with diabetes. Daughter of M’Lynne.
CLAIREE (W 60s - 70s, Any Race) - Widow of the former mayor - wealthy but not ostentatious, sarcastic and witty, loves a good joke.
OUISER (W, 60s - 70s, Any Race) - Wealthy, direct, has stopped caring what people think a long time ago. Can come across as mean but cares deeply for those she loves. Big heart under a tough exterior.
ANNELLE (W, 20s, Any Race) - Newcomer to the group, shy and awkward at first but comes into her own. Hired as Truvy’s new stylist. Is escaping an abusive ex-husband. Finds religion.

THE TURN OF THE SCREW

A classic of gothic horror. In the late 1800s a young woman arrives at a remote English manor house to serve as governess to two orphaned children. Perplexed by the behavior of the children, the governess begins to unravel the unseemly mystery of the previous governess, a former valet, and the possibility that the children are haunted by their ghosts. A spine-tingling thriller that will leave you grasping for answers and questioning what you know to be real in an adaptation that is an imaginative tour de force for the two actors.

The timeless enchantment of this classic fairytale comes to life just in time for the holidays. In a far-off kingdom, a young girl, Cinderella, is made to serve her wicked stepmother and her cruel stepsisters. Despite her situation, Cinderella remains kind and good and hopeful that a wish might be granted and that her life might be transformed.

On a warm summer night where the Perseid meteor shower fills the dark sky with shooting stars and possibility, these young people connect and collide, asking big questions and seeking out answers in a quest to be seen for who they are.

5 TRACKS (Early to mid 20s, Any Gender, Any Race) - ensemble to play multiple roles in 9 separate scenes - all focused on connections, relationships, and missed opportunities for young people in Northern Maine, with a particular focus on the LGBTQI+ community. One of the Tracks will have 2 roles as a Trans Man. Trans Men are encouraged to audition.

So much of who we are can be discovered in what we throw away, and no one knows that better than a city sanitation worker. Danny, gruff and opinionated, is tasked with showing the ropes to his new highly educated but inexperienced partner Marlowe. The two could not be more different and naturally sparks fly in both hilarious and harrowing ways as they work their route. Two essential workers from opposite worlds discover there’s more that binds them together than the shared task of taking out the trash.

SEEKING:

MARLOWE: (Late 30s, female, Black) - Confident and competent, both physically and mentally. Keen sense of wit and irony. New to the job. Carrying a secret.
DANNY: (40s, male, White) - Nine years on the job. Good heart under a veneer of mansplaining and machismo. Sense of humor and a desire to be liked.

MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET

December 4, 1956, when an extraordinary twist of fate brought Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins and Elvis Presley together at Sun Records in Memphis for what would be one of the greatest jam sessions ever. MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET brings that legendary December night to life with an irresistible tale of broken promises, secrets, betrayal and celebrations that is both poignant and funny. (If auditioning for one of the “Quartet” or the “band” please be prepared to play that role's instrument in addition to singing)

SEEKING:

ELVIS – (20s - 30s, male, White) - singer/guitar player to portray Elvis in his 20s at the beginning of his career. Confident in performing, struggling with his conscience.
JERRY LEE LEWIS – (20s-early 30s, male, White) - singer/pianist; A superb piano player, able to play like Jerry Lee Lewis; fun, energetic; sense of humor and something to prove.
CARL PERKINS – (mid 20s - early 30s, male, White) - singer/guitar player (lead guitar); he was the American pioneer of rockabilly music. Confident, brash, feels under-appreciated for his degree of talent and what he’s given to the industry. An excellent lead guitarist.
JOHNNY CASH – (late 20s-late 30s, male, White) - singer/guitar player to portray Johnny Cash at the start of his career. Able to play guitar. Good heart and trying to do the right thing by his family, his career and by Sam.
SAM PHILLIPS – (mid-30s-40s, male, White) - a visionary who is trying to hold his business and the artists together - smart negotiator and tries to keep everyone happy in challenging circumstances.
DYANNE – (20s-early 30s, female, Any Race) - An aspiring singer and Elvis’s girlfriend; ahead of her time and assertive, she’s a great singer with a wide range.
JAY PERKINS (20s - 40s, Any Gender, Any Race) - Upright Bass Player/non-speaking role. Carl’s Brother - forms “the band”.
FLUKE (20s - 40s, Any Gender, Any Race) - Drummer, non-speaking role - forms “the band”.
