Please prepare a brief Irish Folk Song and a brief monologue. An accompanist will be provided, please have sheet music clearly marked and in the correct key. There will be no transposing in the room. Please bring a stapled headshot and resume.

DIALECT NOTE: We are interested in actors who have facility with an IRISH DIALECT (ideally “Rural southwest Irish dialect.”). If you are not familiar with the Rural southwest Irish dialect, please prepare the Irish dialect that you are comfortable with.

SEEKING:

SEAN (SEANIN) KELLY (Male identifying, 14-ish) The Narrator as a mischievous young boy, stuck with his sister, Nell. Tenor, C3-C5.
NELL KELLY (Female identifying, 11-ish) Sean’s wide-eyed, enthusiastic younger sister, who adores her brother. Soprano, C4-C6.
MICHAEL KELLY (Male identifying, late 30s-40s) The stern, solid head of the Kelly household, he feels the strain of trying to make ends meet. Bass/baritone, C2-E4.
GRANDMOTHER NORA KELLY (Female identifying, 60-ish) Grandmother is wisdom itself, rooted in all the stories that make Ireland. She rules the roost firmly and sternly from her chair by the hearth. Alto, D3-F3.
FERGUS (Male identifying, 30 to 40s) A bachelor farmer, leans toward the cranky side, although he does enjoy a jar or two with Michael and Davey. Tenor, C3-C5.
LIAM (THIS ACTOR WILL ALSO COVER SEAN) A mischievous apparition. May ride a bike across the stage.
