Further complicating the situation is the “family business”: Albin and Georges run a drag nightclub in St. Tropez, where Albin is the star performer, “Zaza.” Georges reluctantly agrees to masquerade as “normal” when he meets the family of the bride-to-be. But Albin has other plans, with hilarious results.

Synopsis: In nineteenth-century France, Jean Valjean is released from 19 years of unjust imprisonment but finds nothing in store for him but mistrust and mistreatment. He breaks his parole in hopes of starting a new life, initiating a lifelong struggle for redemption as he is relentlessly pursued by police inspector Javert, who refuses to believe that Valjean can change his ways. Finally, during the Paris student uprising of 1832, Javert must confront his ideals after Valjean spares his life and saves that of the student revolutionary who has captured the heart of Valjean's adopted daughter.

SEEKING

JEAN VALJEAN — High lyrics baritone or tenor, with both strong low notes and a strong falsetto. A poor peasant who rises to affluence, he has great natural nobility and dignity. A powerful figure, with a character of operatic size and passion. The voice needs to have a pop/rock sound or a classical sound of extraordinary textual clarity. Gender: male.

JAVERT — Has a natural gravitas with the ability to be expressive and dynamic. Policeman who relentlessly hunts Valjean. An imposing character. The ultimate ‘law and order’ figure. Obsessed, to the point of irrationality, with rigid and merciless moral code. Gender: male. Vocal range top: F#4; bottom: F2.

THE BISHOP OF DIGNE — Has a strong, rich lower register. A religious man who, despite Valjean’s theft of his valuable possessions, sees past the convict and allows him to move on with his new life. Gender: male. Vocal range top: E4; bottom: A2.

FANTINE — Poor but beautiful and elegant factory girl, struggling to support her fatherless daughter. Later is a pauper, a sex worker, a consumptive and a ghost. Earthy and poignant. Although she is finally defeated by circumstances, she should appear to be strong and a survivor. Gender: female, Age: 20–30. Vocal range top: Eb5; bottom: F3.

LITTLE COSETTE — Fantine’s daughter and the Thénardiers’ ward. She has been forced into child labor. Gender: female. Vocal range top: C5; bottom: A.

YOUNG EPONINE — The pampered daughter of the Thénardiers. She does little except taunt Young Cosette. Gender: female.

GAVROCHE — Thénardier’s son. He is left to fend for himself and lives by his wits in the streets of Paris. Brave, witty, and arrogant, with a fantastic, unchanged voice. Gender: male. Vocal range top: G5; bottom: B3.

EPONINE — A beautiful belt voice, with a contemporary edge. Daughter of the Thénardiers but in no way behaves like them. Fired by an unrequited love for Marius. Hasn’t learned to disguise her emotions; wears her heart on her sleeve. Gender: female, Age: 18–25. Vocal range top: E5; bottom: F3.

COSETTE — Light ‘floating’ sound, without heavy vibrato. Fantine’s daughter (first seen as and played by a child). Delicate, elegant, vulnerable and beautiful. Falls in love with and later marries Marius. Gender: female, Age: 18–25. Vocal range top: C6; bottom: Bb3.

Synopsis: A young orphan and his mates are shipped off from Victorian England to a distant island ruled by the evil King Zarboff. They know nothing of the mysterious trunk in the captain’s cabin, which contains precious, otherworldly cargo. At sea, the boys are discovered by a precocious young girl named Molly, a Starcatcher-in-training who realizes that the trunk’s precious cargo is starstuff, a celestial substance so powerful that it must never fall into the wrong hands. When the ship is taken over by pirates — led by the fearsome Black Stache, a villain determined to claim the trunk and its treasure for his own — the journey quickly becomes a thrilling adventure.

SEEKING

BLACK STACHE — A notorious pirate, terrorizing the seven seas in search of a worthy adversary. Heartless, and suspiciously well read. Partial to the poetical and theatrical, which causes him to behave quite flamboyantly.

MOLLY ASTER — A young girl and Starcatcher apprentice who is taken aboard the Neverland as precious cargo. Curious and intelligent, she is only beginning to understand the confusing romantic longings that come with her age. She will risk anything for the sake of what is right.

BOY / PETER — A lonely and hardened orphan who doesn't miss much. Nameless, homeless, and friendless at the beginning of the play and a hero by the end. He wants a home and a family more than anything, and dreams of a life of being free.

GEMPKIN — The schoolmaster of St. Norbert's Orphanage for Lost Boys. Mean and malodorous, he revels in keeping his boys in the dark and malnourished. May double with other characters.

MRS. BUMBRAKE — Molly's nanny, a stereotypical British cad and outfitted with the duty of teaching Molly about womanhood. May double with other characters.

BILL SLANK — The vicious orphaned captain of the Neverland. Does not possess the capacity to lead anyone but himself, which puts himself constantly in disaster. Greedy enough to send boys to their doom for the chance of gaining starstuff. May double with other characters.

SMEE — Black Stache's first mate. He is single-mindedly dedicated to his captain's every whim.

PRENTISS — An orphan, ambitious, hyper articulate, and logical. He yearns to be a leader, even when he knows in his heart that he'll never be one. A bit of a blowhard with a touch of cowardice.

ALF — A seafarer, an old sea dog with a kind heart and proud of his tenure.

LORD LEONARD ASTER — Molly's father, a loyal subject to the Queen. The very model of a Victorian English gentleman, he is a faithful friend and a secret Starcatcher.

CAPTAIN ROBERT FALCON SCOTT — Lord Aster's old school friend, the captain of the Wasp, Britain's fastest frigate. Lives with nautical bravura and heroic patriotism.

TED — An orphan obsessed with food. A natural performer with easy wit and quite poetic language.

ENSEMBLE — Sailors; Seamen; Seafarers; Orphans; Pirates; Mermaids; Mollusks; Narrators.

Synopsis: As Hurricane Andrew threatens Miami, perpetual grad student Miranda returns to Florida to help her mother Ximena and abuela Valeria weather the storm. But Valeria has already taken shelter in her own world of memory and magic as she deals with the onset of dementia. And Ximena feels she is the only one capable of keeping her mother safe from the reality of the storm and shuns Miranda's help. Hurricane Andrew stirs up old grudges, unearths family secrets, and carves a path through their fragile relationships to the one question that matters most: Can they ever forgive each other? Loosely inspired by Shakespeare's The Tempest, El Huracán is a beautifully lyrical play about resentment, responsibility, and love.
