AUDITION DATE

LOCATION

Sunday, March 1, 2026 — West End Arts Center, 132 West End Avenue, Long Branch, NJ 07740

10:00 AM – 5:30 PM (E). Lunch 1:00 PM – 1:30 PM.

Free parking and entrance to the building is through the parking lot off of Sairs Ave. For transit, take the North Jersey Coast Line to Long Branch. Taxis are available, or if you prefer it's a 10‑minute walk to the theater.

PERSONNEL

CONTRACT

Independent Theatre Contract. $623 weekly minimum, plus pension and health. See breakdown for production-specific personnel. Housing provided for out-of-area actors.

Theater's statement: Age is not as important as the spirit of the actor. We are looking for actors who embody the sense of youth or age needed for each role. Even in the more serious plays, an ability to play comedy is important.

PREPARATION

Please prepare two contemporary and contrasting monologues (one comedic, one dramatic) totaling no more than 2½ minutes. In addition, each person auditioning should bring two photos with resumes attached. Always bring your Equity Membership card to auditions.

  • Bobby Maloney: A silver-haired, working-class tough who was born in Gloucester, Mass and will most likely die there.
  • Douggie Shimmatrarro: A small, baby-faced kid who is returning to his hometown after a long absence.
  • Frankie Verga / Philly Verga: Middle-aged, thin, cat-like, dangerous. Philly is a more flashy version of his brother.
  • Dubbah Morrision: Same age as Frankie, but much smaller and much more affable.

Note: The characters' ages are negotiable. They could be a bit older or a bit younger. Good timing and good humor are most important.

  • Brad #1 — Well put-together, probably fit, late 30s to mid 40s, male, any race or nationality
  • Brad #2 — Same description as Brad #1, mid 30s to mid 40s, male
  • Devorah — Earnest, wants to be seen as laid-back but wound tight. Boho fashion, late 40s–mid 60s, female
  • Xander — More in his head than in his body. A bit arrogant but wants to be liked. Not a great dresser. Early 50s–mid 60s, male
