Staged Reading. Reimbursement for basic travel expenses as submitted by the Equity Member plus a $100 stipend.

There will be two readings: April 27, 2026 at 2:30 PM, and April 28, 2026 at 4:00 PM.

SEEKING

Equity actors for NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD - A MUSICAL RESURGENCE (see breakdown).

A 29-hour Reading - Industry Staged Reading. Venue: Harvey Fierstein Theatre Lab in the Library for the Performing Arts - Lincoln Center.

We encourage participation by all races and ethnicities. An Equity Monitor will not be provided. The producer will run all aspects of this audition.

PREPARATION

Please prepare a brief pop/rock song, plus a brief comic monologue or a joke (as time allows). Bring your headshot and resume stapled together and sheet music. An accompanist will be provided. Always bring your Equity Membership card to auditions.

BREAKDOWN

NOTE: All principals will double to sing as Zombies and the Posse members.

BARBRA. White, early 30s. Visiting her father’s grave, she is traumatized by a zombie attack and grows increasingly withdrawn and fearful as the night progresses.

BEN. Hispanic, 35 to 50 years old. His full name is Benedicto, nickname Benito. Strong, determined and resourceful, takes charge of the farmhouse defense against the zombie invasion.

TOM. White, 18 years old. A gay teenage boy that has not come out to anyone but realizes it's time to level with his friend.

JUDY. White, 17 or 18 years old. Tom’s loyal and caring friend; she longs to be his girlfriend.

HARRY COOPER. White, early 40s. Hot-headed, stubborn, reacts contentiously to Ben’s take-charge stance.

HELEN COOPER. White, early 40s. Harry’s long-suffering wife, who decides to end their unhappy marriage.

TV ANCHOR (Tracy). Any race. Articulate, well-spoken, professional appearance, maintains composure while delivering frightening news broadcasts.

POLICE CHIEF COLIN MCCLELLAN. White, mid 40s+. A bigoted redneck with a folksy veneer but with contempt for any outsider he thinks is invading his territory.
