Please prepare EITHER a brief song OR a brief monologue OR 32 bars of a song and a one-minute monologue. Bring sheet music in the correct key; accompanist is provided, but may not transpose.

All dates are in 2011. All roles that will be (or may be) on Equity contracts are listed. Roles are available (i.e. not yet offered and accepted) unless otherwise specified. For pre-cast roles, auditioning performers will be considered as possible (emergency) replacements, should any become necessary. This Theatre does not use Equity Chorus contracts.

Jack Warner:
40-60. Natty dresser and tough as nails.
Will Hayes:
50s. Full of bluster and vanity. Wields immense power in Hollywood, and he knows it.
Oberon:
CAST. 30-50. The character we know from Shakespeare. He’s imperious, impatient and commanding. Has a childlike temper, and there’s a sense of whimsy about him. He’s also extremely attractive.

CAST. Playful, comic ringmaster of the show. Slave to Hero. Baritone (A - high G).

Aldolpho:
European. Self-proclaimed “ladies’ man”, played (in the play-within-a-play) by former silent movie star Roman Bartelli. A#2 - G4 (bass/baritone + great falsetto). In the song “Aldolpho”, the high notes in the song can be sung falsetto. The lower notes are more of a character voice.
Feldzieg:
Broadway producer, played (in the play-within-a-play) by Jack Adler. Baritenor (Db3 - Db4).
Mrs. Tottendale:
Air-headed hostess of the wedding. Alto (G3 - Db5).
The Drowsy Chaperone:
Janet's alcoholic confidante, played (in the play-within-a-play) by well-established stage actress Beatrice Stockwell. Alto (F3 - D5).
Man in Chair:
CAST. Musical theatre aficionado who mourns the end of the Golden Era. His recording of “The Drowsy Chaperone” brings the show to life as he narrates.

30s-60s. Very ornery celebrity, stuck in the middle of nowhere.
