SEEKING

Equity actors for roles in Maltz Jupiter Theatre's 2025-26 season (see breakdown). Performers interested in principal roles for the season. This is a seasonal EPA. If you are unable to attend, please do not panic. We will still have individual auditions and the ECCs closer to the time we are actually casting these shows all throughout the year. All roles available. If Bob knows you well, you are welcome to drop off a picture and resume with the role/roles listed on your resume that you are interested in, if you don't have time to audition. (Also accepting stage manager drop-offs.)

PREPARATION

Please bring a picture and resume and a selection(s) in the style of the shows. You are welcome to sing from the show/shows or perform a monologue from the show/shows. We'd prefer two different short selections, to one long selection. Let us meet more sides of you.

ANNIE WILKES (Female Presenting, 40s–60s – any Race) A nurse who comes to Paul's rescue (seemingly), Annie seems to be a kind, tender woman who cares deeply for Paul, even if she does seem slightly off. As Paul grows to know her, it becomes clearer that Annie is manipulative, cunning, and hides a deep-seated and terrifying malice behind her cheery simple façade.
PAUL SHELDON (Male Presenting, Late 30s–Early 60s – any race) A famed romance novelist tired of the series that has brought him the most acclaim. Returning from a retreat to finish his most recent work, he is involved in a terrible car crash that leaves him with broken legs and unable to care for himself. He’s thoughtful, if not a touch arrogant, and extremely crafty. He quickly realizes how dangerous his situation is and must use anything and everything at his disposal to survive.
BUSTER (Male Presenting, Late 30s–Late 60s, any race) The Sheriff of a nearby town searching for Paul. Very friendly with possible hopes of something more with Annie.

MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET (LORT B+)

ELVIS PRESLEY - 20s. Male presenting. Singer/Guitar. Elvis at the beginning of his career. Charismatic and sexy, but boyish - still maintaining a bit of innocence. Must be able to play guitar and move like Elvis. However, this should not be an impersonation. Looking for a truthful interpretation.
DYANNE - 20s. Female presenting. An aspiring singer from Hollywood, and Elvis’s girlfriend. Smart and sexy with a great rock belt. She’s headstrong and tough, and typically doesn’t back down from a fight. Sings “Fever”.
JERRY LEE LEWIS - 20s. Male presenting. Excellent piano player and singer. Must be familiar with Jerry Lee’s signature style at the piano. Fun, energetic, and in good physical shape. Comedic skills a plus.
CARL PERKINS - 20s/30s. Male presenting. Excellent guitar player and singer. Pioneer of rockabilly music and best known for his song, “Blue Suede Shoes.” Tough and dangerous. A strong lead guitar player.
JOHNNY CASH - 20s/30s. Male presenting. Singer/guitar player. Must be familiar with Johnny Cash’s signature style and voice without it being an impersonation. Looking for a truthful interpretation.
SAM PHILLIPS - 20s/40s. Male presenting. A wry sense of humor. Commands the stage as the charismatic narrator of the show. The owner of Sun Records, and the “Father of Rock and Roll”. Confident and charming, but tough with anyone who tries to cross him.
BROTHER JAY - 20s/40s. Male presenting. An excellent bass player. Brother of Carl Perkins. Looking for someone who can perform “tricks” on the bass and be in good physical shape.
FLUKE - 20s/40s. Male presenting. An excellent drummer who is familiar with this music and the rockabilly style.

COME FROM AWAY (LORT B+)

[BEVERLEY & OTHERS] 40s-50s, any ethnicity, female (cis- or transgender). An American Airlines pilot, Beverley has always loved flying, but her world is changed when she hears about coworkers who were killed in the attacks, and when she is confronted by passengers who refuse to fly again. Doubles as ANNETTE, a local teacher at the Gander Academy who assists Beulah and often lapses into fantasies about the newcomers. Excellent singer with a high mix/belt and soprano voice.
[BEULAH & OTHERS] 40s – 60s, any ethnicity, female (cis- or transgender). Head of the Gander Legion, with a firefighter son, she befriends Hannah, walking to church and praying with her, while overcoming her suspicions of Ali. Quick-witted and open-hearted, Beulah loves to share a joke. Excellent singer with an alto/belt with mix voice.
[BONNIE & OTHERS] 30s–50s, any ethnicity, female (cis- or transgender). A no-nonsense mother of 3, Bonnie is the head of the Gander area SPCA. When she discovers animals are trapped on the planes, she stops at nothing to ensure their safety – but in frustration, she sometimes lashes out at her husband, Doug. Excellent singer with a strong alto/2nd soprano voice.
[DIANE & OTHERS] 50s-60s, any ethnicity, female (cis- or transgender). Diane is a traditional divorcee from Texas, who is terrified that her son may have been flying at the time of the attacks. When she finds out he is safe, she’s given a new lease on life and discovers a wilder, more carefree side of herself. Alto belt and mix/soprano voice.
[HANNAH & OTHERS] 30s–50s, Black, Indigenous, Asian, Latinx/Hispanic, MENASA; female (cis- or transgender). The mother of a firefighter in Manhattan, Hannah waits for news about her son and is comforted by Beulah. Soulful belt and mix/soprano voice.
[JANICE & OTHERS] 20s, any ethnicity, female (cis- or transgender). An eager new local TV reporter, Janice is thrown into the deep end on her first day. Initially naïve about the world, Janice must face the pain and confusion around her. Comedy skills a plus. Excellent characterful belt voice comfortable with mix/soprano.
[BOB & OTHERS] late 20s – 30s, Black, male (cis- or transgender). A hardened New Yorker, Bob is suspicious of where he’s landed, fearing that someone will take advantage of him – but instead he ends up losing his New York jadedness. Baritone.
[CLAUDE & OTHERS] 40s–60s, any ethnicity, male (cis- or transgender). The gregarious and well-liked Mayor of Gander, Newfoundland, Claude loves his work, the townspeople, and his daily traditions, but he’s never before had to deal with a crisis of this magnitude. Doubles as DERM, mayor of the nearby town of Appleton. Rich, characterful baritone voice.
[KEVIN J & OTHERS] 30s-40s, MENASA, Asian, Latinx/Hispanic, Black, Indigenous or any ethnicity, male (cis- or transgender). Kevin T’s boyfriend and secretary. Sarcastic and unhappy, he wants to leave and get back to the U.S. as soon as possible. Doubles as ALI, an Egyptian passenger. Excellent rich baritenor/tenor 2 voice.
[KEVIN T & OTHERS] 30s – mid 50s, any ethnicity, male (cis- or transgender), excellent tenor voice. The head of an environmental energy company in Los Angeles, Kevin was on vacation with his boyfriend (and secretary, also named Kevin), when they are stranded in Gander. Inspired by the town’s generosity, Kevin searches for greater meaning and ways to give back. Doubles as GARTH, head of the local union representing the bus drivers.
[NICK & OTHERS] 50s–60s, any ethnicity, male (cis- or transgender). An English oil engineer who is focused on his work, Nick’s life is turned upside down when he falls for another passenger, Diane. Doubles as DOUG, an air traffic controller and husband to Bonnie. Characterful bari-tenor or tenor voice.
[OZ & OTHERS] 30s–50s, any ethnicity, male (cis- or transgender). The quirky constable in the two-person Gander police force. When the town’s population suddenly doubles, Oz helps out in unexpected ways. Doubles as JOEY, a rambunctious passenger on one of the planes who enjoys a good drink. Excellent pop tenor voice.

[BOB SARNOFF]: 40s/50s. Male-presenting. White. The reigning president of NBC during television’s Golden Age.
[JACK PAAR]: 30s/40s, Male-presenting. White. Bob Sarnoff’s contemporary, and America’s smoothest talker.
[JUNE LEVANT]: 30s/40s, Female-presenting, any race/ethnicity. Attractive and gracious under pressure. Seemingly put-upon, she actually has a core of steel.
[ALVIN FINNEY]: 20s/30s, Male-presenting. Black. A young medical orderly working in the mental ward at Mt. Sinai, with a droll sense of humor and serious ambition.
[MAX WEINBAUM]: 20s, Male-presenting, any race/ethnicity. Jack Paar’s new production assistant. A young man whose ingratiating enthusiasm is matched only by his comic ineptitude.
[OSCAR LEVANT]: Just over 50, Male-presenting, Jewish. He’s got the face of a movie gangster, the posture of a sad sack, and enough scabrous wit for the whole Algonquin Round Table.
[GEORGE GERSHWIN]: 30s, Male-presenting, Jewish. Charming and rakish. He’s got the tapered physique of an athlete, a winning grin, and the most celebrated career in American popular music.

MAN OF LA MANCHA (LORT B+)

DON QUIXOTE/MIGUEL DE CERVANTES (Male, Latine-Hispanic, 40s-50s, Baritone) has tremendous depth and a heroic baritone voice; doubles as the writer Cervantes who is a writer, an unconventional thinker, and a free spirit; as Quixote, he is a “foolish knight” although righteous, fearless, honorable, who believes chivalry is alive. (Vocal Range: B2-E4)
SANCHO PANZA/MANSERVANT (Male, Latine-Hispanic, 30s-40s, Tenor) doubles as Cervantes’ manservant and Quixote’s sidekick Sancho; he is funny, has a light-hearted spirit, and has a deep and true kindness and loyalty; his essence is that of caretaker; has depth and subtlety; also sings well. (Vocal Range: C3-A4)
ALDONZA (Female, Latine-Hispanic or African American, 30s-40s, Soprano) has tremendous singing ability with a gutsy belt to a high A; Aldonza is a very smart and independent woman, she is defensive, defiant, and a survivor; she is also wry; however, beneath her tough exterior is a woman with a noble heart and purity who desperately wants to be seen. Moves very well. (Vocal range: Ab3-Ab5)
THE GOVERNOR/THE INNKEEPER (Male, Latine-Hispanic, 40s-60s, Bass) The Governor is the leader of the inmate society in the prison. He is a powerful man who oversees Cervantes’ trial. As the Innkeeper, he is skeptical of Don Quixote but kind – a gentle giant. (Vocal Range: G2-C#4)
THE DUKE/DR. CARRASCO (Male, Any ethnicity 30s-40s, Baritone) The Duke is a man of “breeding, intelligence, logic”; he is analytical and scientific; he can also be arrogant because he’s usually the smartest person in the room; must feel like a thoughtful leading man. (Vocal Range: C3-Db4)
PADRE (Male, Latine-Hispanic, 30s-40s, Tenor) a kind but passive religious leader; he is well-intentioned, but not strong enough to stand fully behind his beliefs; he’s a pleaser, but he has a soul and a heart; has a lyrical tenor voice. (Vocal Range: C3-G4)
ANTONIA (Female, Latine-Hispanic, 20s-40s, Soprano) Quixote’s niece and Dr. Carrasco’s fiancée. A seemingly sweet and caring young woman, but selfish. She tends to care more about her needs than her uncle. (Vocal Range: C4-F5)
HOUSEKEEPER (Female, Any ethnicity, 40s-60s, Mezzo) Quixote’s housekeeper. She is not thrilled to be working for a man whom she considers to be mad, and she is verbal about it. (Vocal Range: F3-F5)
THE BARBER (Male, Any ethnicity, 30s–60s, Tenor) He travels the countryside and peddles shaves. He is known by everyone. Joyful, comic character (Vocal Range: D3-G4)
MARIA (Female, Latine-Hispanic, 40s-60s, chorus singing only) The exasperated wife of the Innkeeper. She sees (and expects) the worst of all who enter the inn, especially Quixote.
PEDRO (Male, Latine-Hispanic, 30s-50s, Baritone) Rough, ruthless, head muleteer. Infatuated with Aldonza, although she doesn’t reciprocate the feeling. Dances very well (Vocal Range: D3-D4)
ANSELMO (Male, Any ethnicity, 20s-50s, Tenor) Rough muleteer, sings “Little Bird”. Plays guitar and dances very well (Vocal Range: A3-F#4)
JOSE, TENORIO, PACO and JUAN (Male, Any ethnicity, 20s-50s, chorus singing only) Other muleteers of all shapes and sizes, athletic; they sing and dance well.
FERMINA (Female, Any ethnicity, 20s-30s, chorus singing and dancing only) A servant girl. Dancer.

SAM AND OTHERS: (ALREADY CAST) a struggling actor working in a New York City restaurant, navigating demanding customers all while dealing with the pressures of a low-status job. Able to switch between various personalities at the drop of a hat, from socialites to chefs. Strong comedic timing portraying a variety of characters and voices.
