APPOINTMENTS

This call will be run on a first come, first served basis beginning on the morning of the audition. Doors open at 10:45am to begin sign-ups. Walk-ins welcome. No appointments. The theater requests that if you expect to attend, please email Artistic Director, Kristin Heckler:

SEEKING

Equity actors for roles in MAN OF LAMANCHA (See breakdown).

Please prepare a brief comic (contemporary) monologue and a song in the style of the show (bring music for the accompanist). Also, please bring your picture and resume, stapled together.

Rehearsal schedule: Tuesdays – Fridays 9 am - 3 pm, Saturdays 10 am - 4 pm
Performance schedule: Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays @ 7:30 pm, Sundays @ 3 pm.
Thursday Matinees (3 pm) on April 16, 23, and 30.

An Equity Monitor will not be provided. The producer will run all aspects of this audition.

BREAKDOWN

MAN OF LA MANCHA

SEEKING:

Miguel de Cervantes/Alonso Quijana/Don Quixote (30s-60s, he/him) Baritone/Alto.
Cervantes is an actor, playwright, and tax collector. Quijana is an aging gentleman who believes himself to be Don Quixote. Quixote is a would-be knight errant, a romantic, and a madman.

Sancho Panza (30s-50s, he/him) Tenor.
Quixote’s loyal squire and sidekick. Funny, pragmatic.

Aldonza/Dulcinea (30s-50s, she/her) Soprano with belt.
A servant and part-time prostitute. Jaded, defiant, a survivor. Her rough exterior masks a gentle heart. Quixote imagines her to be his lady, Dulcinea.

5 Tracks: of varying voice types and genders. Each track will play multiple roles, including:

  • Barber: A traveling barber.
  • Padre: A kindly cleric. Thoughtful, sympathetic to Don Quixote, but conflicted.
  • Antonia: Sweet but self-centered. Niece to Alonso Quijana and engaged to Dr. Carrasco.
  • Housekeeper: Strong, religious, holds tightly to her convictions. Works as a housekeeper for Alonso Quijana.
  • Maria: No-nonsense, exasperated, and pessimistic. Married to the Innkeeper.
  • Pedro: a muleteer
  • Dr. Carrasco: Haughty, controlling, and engaged to Don Quixote’s niece, Antonia.
  • Innkeeper: Kind and sympathetic to Don Quixote until his inn is threatened. Married to Maria.
  • The Duke: The Duke is a disillusioned prisoner who dislikes Cervantes and his stories.
  • The Governor: The imposing leader of the inmates.
