Saturday, January 24, 2026 — American Legion Hall, 8 Washington Street, Gloucester, MA 01930

Auditions: 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM (E). Lunch: 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM. Second Floor. THIS SPACE'S VENTILATION HAS NOT BEEN VERIFIED BY ACTORS' EQUITY ASSOCIATION.

SPT. $457 weekly minimum (SPT 3).

AS YOU LIKE IT written by William Shakespeare, adapted by M. Graham Smith. Directed by M. Graham Smith.

SEEKING

Equity actors for roles in Lanes Coven Theater Company’s 2026 season (see breakdown). Local Gloucester, MA area actors are encouraged to audition. Performers of all ethnicities and genders are encouraged to audition.

OTHER DATES

Callback (movement/dance): January 25th after 6:00 PM.

PREPARATION

For CHURCH: please prepare any monologue from the play that you resonate with — we do not want to see just any contemporary monologue.

For AS YOU LIKE IT: please decide on ONE side from the posting, or come in with a comedic Shakespeare monologue. We may have time to see more than one character, but no guarantees. Sides will be available mid-January at
https://lanescoven.org/auditions. No video submissions.

Venue: Indoors, American Legion Hall, Gloucester, MA.

AS YOU LIKE IT (Venue)

Venue: Windhover Performing Arts Center, Rockport, MA. Outdoors under-the-tent.

An Equity monitor will not be provided. The producer will run all aspects of this audition. Equity’s contracts prohibit discrimination. CHURCH

Note: All actors should demonstrate that they can vocally and physically fill a large indoor hall and be comfortable with direct address and eye contact with the audience.

All reverends besides Jose will be named for the actor playing the role, but Reverend Jose is always Reverend Jose. Please note we are seeking all genders for all roles, including Reverend Jose.

  • REVEREND JOSE: The lead reverend, speaks the majority of the piece. Must have effortless ability to command a room and also humor.
  • REVEREND WEENA: Must move and sing/harmonize back-up.
  • REVEREND KARINNE: THIS ROLE IS PRE-CAST. Must move and sing lead a cappella.
  • REVEREND KATIE: Must move and sing lead a cappella.

AS YOU LIKE IT

Note: All actors must demonstrate that they can vocally and physically fill a large outdoor stage.

  • DUKE SENIOR: The “good” duke in banishment. Doubles with DUKE FREDERICK, his brother and usurper.
  • ORLANDO: Younger son of Sir Rowland de Boys. Sings. Playing guitar/mandolin/ukulele, etc., is a plus.
  • OLIVER: Eldest son of Sir Rowland de Boys.
  • CHARLES: A wrestler at the court (no size requirement).
  • CELIA: Daughter of Duke Frederick.
  • ROSALIND: Daughter of Duke Senior, cousin to Celia.
  • TOUCHSTONE: A clown in service to Rosalind & Celia.
  • AMIENS: A lord attending Duke Senior.
  • JAQUES: A lord attending Duke Senior. Must have effortlessness and wisdom with language and verse.
  • PHOEBE: A shepherdess.
  • AUDREY: A country wench.
  • SILVIUS: A shepherd.

REHEARSAL & PERFORMANCE SCHEDULE

CHURCH — First Rehearsal: April 7th. Tech: April 20, 21, 22, 23. First Performance: April 24. Final Performance: May 10.

AS YOU LIKE IT — First Rehearsal: June 23. All Tech: July 7, 8, 9. First Performance/Previews: July 10, 11, 12. Final Performance: August 2.
