BREAKDOWN
Greater Boston Stage Company 2025-26 Season
FEATHERBABY
By David Templeton
Directed by Weylin Symes
1st Rehearsal: August 19, 2025
Performances: September 12-28, 2025
SEEKING
Featherbaby, CAST. (30-something; male, female or non-binary, any ethnicity) An Amazon parrot; energetic and highly physical. Featherbaby lives in a world of memory, fantasy, instinct and observation, careening wildly from one to the other. They generally like to think they are bigger and tougher than they are. Though taken from the jungle long, long ago, ocelots still give them nightmares.
Mason, (25-35; male, any ethnicity) A seasoned competitive jigsaw puzzler who dreams of becoming a lawyer, Mason is familiar with animal law but is not fond of animals. He is cautious and reserved, but confident, good-humored and sweet-natured. He once fell in love with a woman who was married, and when she drunkenly asked him at a party if he loved her, he lied and said no. He has a recurring dream that he is the only clothed person at a nudity-optional picnic, but knows he looks good in a suit.
Angie, (25-35, female, any ethnicity) A freelance crime-scene photographer and rookie jigsaw puzzler, Angie is confident, quirky and playful, skilled at many pastimes but intentionally never locked down into anything. She is highly intelligent, prone to gallows humor and bad puns, extremely curious, and consciously works at being somewhat unpredictable. In high school she was Valedictorian, a teacher’s assistant, a stoner, a born-again, a goth, a dropout, and a cheerleader – not necessarily in that order.
