SEEKING
Equity actors for roles in the 2025-26 season (see breakdown). All roles will be understudied. We encourage performers of all races and ethnicities, gender identities, sexualities, abilities, and ages to audition. We strongly encourage local Cleveland actors to attend. Shows are shared between Great Lakes Theater, Idaho Shakespeare Festival, and Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival.
PREPARATION
Please bring a stapled headshot and resume.
- One brief Shakespeare and one brief contemporary monologue, OR
- Two brief Shakespeare monologues, OR
- One brief monologue and one short song selection.
Please bring sheet music in the correct key; an accompanist will be provided but will not transpose.

Character Descriptions:
- George – The central character, a 19th-century French painter (based on Georges Seurat), whose intense focus on his pointillist technique drives him to emotional distance.
- Dot – George’s model and lover. Vibrant and passionate, she longs for more emotional connection with George.
- Old Lady – A somewhat mysterious figure who often reflects on the passage of time and George’s legacy.
- Nurse – A practical character who serves as a foil to George and Dot’s emotional turmoil.
- Jules – A fellow artist and friend of George, questioning him about his obsession.
- Yvonne – Dot’s concerned friend, pointing out George’s emotional neglect of her.
- Boatman – A quiet, stoic figure from George's painting.
- Celeste #1 and #2 – Models for George’s painting.
- Louis – A fellow artist and friend who offers a relaxed approach to art.
- Louise – Model contributing to the tapestry of personalities in George's world.
- Franz – A social worker at the park where George paints.
- Frieda – A model contributing to George's vibrant world.
- Soldier – Represents the broader world outside of George’s circle.
