Development Agreement
The minimum base weekly salary for the positions being auditioned for is established by a collective bargaining agreement between The Broadway League Inc., on behalf of the above-named producer, and Actors' Equity Association. For Broadway, it is anticipated that the base weekly salary for each of the below-listed roles will range between a minimum of $1,384 per week (which equals an annualized base salary of $71,968) and a maximum of $1,384 per week (which equals an annualized base salary of $71,968). As of 2/9/25, the minimum will be bumped to $1,425 per week (which equals an annualized base salary of $74,100).

Originally a back-up singer in The Dreams who gets promoted to the lead singer and becomes a pop star. A strong singer, and strong dancer. Mezzo with a high belt.
EFFIE – (Female, 20s, Black) Can transform from a girl to a woman. Embodies vivacity. Roots in Detroit. Powerhouse vocals. A church girl. A full-bodied woman. Loves her figure. Confident. Bold. Knows what she wants and says what she wants. Survivor. Originally the lead singer of The Dreams who is eventually pushed out of the group. A strong singer, and strong dancer. A high belter with powerhouse vocals.
LORRELL – (Female, 20s, Black) Can transform from a girl to a woman. Embodies youth. Roots in Detroit. A church girl (pastor’s daughter). Sweet. Comedic. Innocent to a point. Stands up for herself. Trains at the local dance school. The third member of The Dreams. A strong singer, and strong dancer. Soprano with a high belt.
MICHELLE – (Female, 20s, Black) Opportunist. Knows what she wants. Commercial beauty. Very malleable. Becomes a member of The Dreams when they kick Effie out of the group. A strong singer, and strong dancer. Mezzo or Soprano with a high belt.
CURTIS – (Male, 30s, Black) Tall, dark, and handsome. Charismatic. Magnetic. Charming. Gritty. Trickster. Car salesman who becomes the manager of The Dreams. A strong singer, and strong dancer. 5’9 or taller. Rich baritone with a high belt.
JIMMY – (Male, 30s, Black) Amazing entertainer and dancer who can do tricks a la James Brown. Electric. Funny, but not a joke. Womanizer. A talented artist born before his time. A strong singer, dancer. 5’9 or taller. High tenor.
C.C. – (Male, late 20s-early 30s, Black) Effie’s Brother. Roots in Detroit. A very gifted composer. Songwriter for the The Dreams. Boyish charm, but not a kid. Strong willed. Genuine. A strong singer, and strong dancer. 5’9 or taller. High baritone.
MARTY – (Male, 40s-50s, Black) Old-school. Hip to the game. Loyal. Father-figure. Jimmy’s original manager who is replaced by Curtis. A strong singer. 5’9 or taller. Baritone.
