BREAKDOWN
SEEKING:
The producers and creative team of DAMN YANKEES are seeking actors of all races, cultural backgrounds, abilities, and gender identities to audition for all roles.
[SISTER] Female-Presenting, Black, Middle-Aged. Has a garrulous sense of humor. She’s one of Meg’s besties, thanks to her sunny disposition and buoyant smile. She’s got a heart of gold but loves to tease. Featured Ensemble.
[DORIS] Female-Presenting, Black, Middle-Aged. Doris and Sister are joined at the hip, doing everything together, from playing cards to their weekly book club. Doris is a bit more reserved than Sister, and sometimes a bit embarrassed by her friend’s saucy humor. Featured Ensemble.
[WELCH] Male-Presenting, Black, Middle-Aged. The owner of the Baltimore Orioles, beleaguered by their losing streak, and desperate to turn their (and his) fortunes around. With their long-time interest in the team, his family’s reputation is at stake. Featured Ensemble.
This track will cover the following role(s):
- [APPLEGATE] Male-Presenting, Ageless. He’s a debonair fellow with reptilian charm, dressed in a sharp suit. One minute, he’s a persuasive used car salesman, and the next, he’s as darkly volcanic as the Devil himself. He’s even got a few magic tricks up his sleeve, like one of those showroom illusionists you might catch at a B-list casino off the Las Vegas strip. Any ethnicity; Principal.
- [JOE BOYD (OLD JOE)] Male-Presenting, Black, 40s-50s. Joe’s solidly middle class, with an abiding love of baseball, rivaled only by his love for his wife Meg. Once athletic, he’s settled into the middle-aged spread and the complacency that comes with it. Still, he’s a good soul, and he’s well-liked in his Baltimore neighborhood. Principal.
- [VAN BUREN] Male-Presenting, 30s-40s. The Oriole’s manager, he’s got a soft spot for his team, even if they are incompetent. Ever hopeful – sometimes to a fault – he thinks enthusiasm can compensate for a lack of skill. If only it were true! Any ethnicity; Principal.
- [MALE-PRESENTING ENSEMBLE AND SWINGS] 20s-30s. Very strong dancers/singers/actors to play various roles (baseball players, etc.), tumbling a plus. May understudy principal roles. Seeking all ethnicities.
- [FEMALE-PRESENTING ENSEMBLE AND SWINGS] 20s-30s. Very strong dancer/singer/actors to play various roles (fans, reporters, etc.), tumbling a plus. May understudy principal roles. Seeking all ethnicities.
