Obie Award-winning play about “a meditation on theatre and life and the passing of time”. The play is at once funny and poignant as we are allowed to peer into the lives of these very different human beings and what led them to take a community center acting class. Setting: Small town in Vermont.

Seeking (roles are available unless otherwise specified; no housing is available to out-of-area performers):

Theresa:

35. An actress. Has left NY, and has recently ended a toxic relationship. Studying acupressure and Rolfing. Very beautiful. Men are easily attracted to her warmth. Originally from New Hampshire. Light-hearted. Needing change.

Lauren:

16. Of Lebanese-Irish descent. Junior in high school. Difficult family life. Hard worker. Stubborn. Hopes to play Maria in “West Side Story”. On the quiet side. Only teen in this adult class.

Schultz:

Man, 48. Carpenter and furniture artisan (specifically, chairs). From Maryland. Newly divorced.

Attracted to Theresa. Soft on the edges. Sincere. Nice guy.

James:

60. Marty’s husband. Grew up an Army brat. Spent his high school, college years in CA, circa the sixties. Free spirit. Has a grown daughter he is not close to, but wishes he were. Comes from a family of alcoholics, and has a fear of becoming his father. Represses this.

Marty:

CAST. Auditioning performers will be considered as possible replacements, should any become necessary. Woman, 55. Co-Executive Director at the community center. Teaches creative dramatics, pottery, jewelry-making. Unconventional … probably a post-hippie. No children of her own, but is a step-mother. From New Jersey originally; now in Shirley, VT. Wants to be in the Southwest someday. A really good teacher.
