SYNOPSIS:
Valerie Bloodlove is a centuries-old vampire who has grown weary of endless nights and fleeting pleasures. When she encounters a haunted human musician who sold his soul for talent, their forbidden connection ignites a fire she thought had died long ago. But the Devil doesn't let go easily – and neither do the bonds of blood. BLOOD/LOVE is an intoxicating, original pop-rock musical that asks the question: what price would you pay to fulfill your deepest desire?
VALERIE BLOODLOVE: (CAST -
DEMETRIUS: male or non-binary, age 30-50, BIPOC. Vocal range: A3-D5. Val’s oldest vampire friend and closest confidant. They’ve spent centuries together traveling the globe. He loves Val dearly, cold as he may seem. A fashion designer with a flair for the dramatic, Demetrius has a cutting wit to match. He is polished, poised, and pretentious. Fiercely loyal to Val, Demetrius is the only one who knows of her dark past. Above all he wishes to continue his eternal life of luxury and excess.
ANZICK: male, 30-50, any ethnicity. Vocal range: B2-A4. Pretty boy front man and guitarist with a complicated past. Years ago made a deal with the devil, bestowing him with unnatural power over the guitar. Feeling trapped in his fate, and the fame and fortune that followed, he desperately seeks a way out. Has an excellent rock voice and guitar playing skills.
CLEO: age 30-50, any ethnicity. Vocal range: G3-E5. Val’s vampire best friend. Sultry and seductive, with a tendency to be a bit reckless in her nightly quest for love.
THE DEVIL/MR. SUNSHINE: male, 30-50, any ethnicity. Dancer. Non-singing, non-speaking role.
Always meddling in the background in his clever attempts to lure Valerie back to the underworld, The Devil masquerades as Mr. Sunshine, peddling Liquid Sunshine - the good time party drug for humans that has infiltrated The Crimson and poses a lethal threat to the vampires. A star dancer with a devilish presence.
THE [DEVIL’S] ADVOCATES: Trio. The voice of The Devil, always looming in the background, reminding Anzik of the fate he can't escape.
