Seeking:
Charles Condomine:
Witty, debonair, urbane British novelist in his 30s-40s. His deceased first wife, Elvira, returns as a ghost and complicates his life with his current wife, Ruth.
Ruth Condomine:
Charles’ second wife. She is quick-witted and a good match for Charles, and is somewhat jealous of his relationship with his first wife.
Dr. Bradman:
Hard-working, middle-aged doctor who knows everyone in town; good friend of the Condomines.
Mrs. Bradman:
The wife of Dr. Bradman, eager to experience something new and different when she arrives for a séance held by Madame Arcati.
Madame Arcati:
One of Noel Coward’s greatest comic characters, Madame Arcati is a middle-aged medium/spiritualist. Eccentric and over-the-top, she does everything with a flair for the dramatic.
Elvira:
Charles’ deceased first wife who returns as a ghost. Still in love with Charles, she delights in wreaking havoc in the lives of Charles and Ruth. She is intelligent, sophisticated and sharp-tongued.
Edith:
The Condomine’s maid, who is inexperienced, awkward and always in a hurry.
