Readings from sides. Sides will be sent with e-mail appointment confirmation. Script and sides will be available for check-out at the box office starting 6/29/11. Theatre highly recommends that auditioning actors read the L’Engle’s novel.

Please bring TWO copies of your stapled-together picture and resume.

“It was a dark and stormy night”… when Meg Murray, an awkward, teenaged girl is transported, along with her younger brother Charles Wallace and friend Calvin O’Keefe, on a fantastical adventure to rescue her father, a gifted scientist, from the dark forces that hold him prisoner on another planet.

Seeking (all roles are available):

Note: No housing is available to out-of-area performers.

Meg:

Seeking actress 18+ to play 13-15. Meg is an awkward teenage girl. Always struggles to embrace her idiosyncrasies. Acrobatic and/or circus skills a plus.

Actor 1 (Charles Wallace / Ensemble):

Actor (18+) must be able to play a range of roles/ages including Charles: 10-12. Speaks like an adult, and has the IQ of a genius. Struggles to embrace being a child. Acrobatic and/or circus skills a plus.

Actor 2 (Mother / Mrs. Who / Camazotz Woman / Aunt Beast / Ensemble:

Track age: 30s-50s. Mother: A scientist. Able to hide her emotions regarding her missing husband from her children. Mrs. Who: One of the three ladies who help the children travel through space and time. Often quotes lines from literature and philosophy to shed light on the moral and ethical dilemmas the children face. Actress plays other characters of various ages. Acrobatic and/or circus skills a plus.

Actor 3 (Mrs.Whatsit / Man With Red Eyes / Ensemble:

To be played by a male OR female actor. Track age: 30s-60s. Mrs. Whatsit: One of the three ladies who help the children travel through space and time. Often clumsy and silly). Performer plays other characters of various ages. Acrobatic and/or circus skills a plus.

Actor 4 (Calvin / Ensemble):

Seeking actor 18+ to play 15-17. Calvin is very fond of Meg. Feels out of place in his own family. Has the gift of persuading others to a particular point of view. Actor plays other characters of various ages. Acrobatic and/or circus skills a plus.

Actor 5 (Father / Mrs. Which / Camazotz Man / Ensemble):

To be played by a male actor. Track age: 30s-50s. Father: Meg and Charles's father. Has been missing for almost two years, held captive on the planet Camazotz. Mrs. Which: Oldest of the three ladies who help the children travel through space and time; has the ability to wrinkle through space. Actor plays other characters of various ages. Acrobatic and/or circus skills a plus.
