Seeking:
Rudy:
Man, 30s. Handsome, working-class, strong build. Upstanding and earnest, with a dreamer's eye. Pilot; loves to fly and takes pride in his skill. Family man; believes in the good in people. Naïve in the best sense of the word, but primed for a wake-up call. Sturdy leader, noble, trustworthy, hard-working, confident in his abilities, dependable. The kind of guy people turn to in times of crisis, and who always knows how to take charge.
June:
Woman, 30s. Rudy’s wife. Attractive, but often tired, both physically and emotionally. Now expecting her first child, and plagued by the thought that her best years have come and gone. Working-class. Hasn't left South Florida. Smart, vulnerable, sensitive, but life’s ups and downs have made her hard and defensive.
Trout:
Man, 20s. Rudy’s younger brother. Scrappy and raffish, working class. Runs a charter fishing boat – sometimes. Prone to womanizing and resentment toward his older brother, he is a volatile and emotional man-boy with an appealing sense of humor and ruggedness. Has a “devil-may-care”, cool exterior, but has a lot more resentment and violence beneath the surface. Intensely emotional, unpredictable and physically agile.
Marcy:
Woman, late 20s. Trout's girlfriend. Sexy. Straight-shooter. Confident in her body and looks, but not yet fully confident of her role in life, Marcy is actively finding her place in a difficult family, a changing world. Studying to be a teacher, and holding fast to an honest desire to make the world a better place, she has a natural moral center, but can be swayed by dogma, big ideas and the strong convictions of others. Has both girlish innocence and idealism mixed with the tough determination.
Theatre’s statement: “ALL ETHNICITIES ENCOURAGED TO AUDITION.”
