Edmonton Chamber Music Society has announced their 2022/23 season! Since 1954, ECMS has been presenting and promoting chamber music in Edmonton through intimate classical music concerts by world-caliber solo musicians and ensembles. Their upcoming season is no exception, featuring five concerts from September to March.

Individual tickets for all performances start at $25 (+gst and fees), season subscriptions include all five performances and start at $100 (+gst and fees). Tickets can be purchased at tixonthesquare.ca

Lysander Piano Trio

The Lysander Piano Trio has been praised by The Strad for its "incredible ensemble, passionate playing, articulate and imaginative ideas and wide palette of colors" and by The Washington Post for "an uncommon degree of heart-on-the-sleeve emotional frankness" and "vivid engagement carried by soaring, ripely Romantic playing."

Silver medalist and laureate of the Krystian Zimerman Prize at the 2015 International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw, Canadian pianist Charles Richard-Hamelin stands out today as one of the most important musicians of his generation. In 2014, he won the second prize at the Montreal International Musical Competition and the third prize at the Seoul International Music Competition in South Korea.

1st Prizewinner and Audience Prizewinner at the 9th Trondheim International Chamber Music Competition in 2017, the Maxwell Quartet is now firmly regarded as one of Britain's finest young string quartets, with a strong connection to their folk music heritage and a commitment to bringing together wide-ranging projects and programmes to expand the string quartet repertoire.

Stewart Goodyear is an accomplished concert pianist, improviser and composer. Mr. Goodyear has performed with, and has been commissioned by, many of the major orchestras and chamber music organizations around the world.

The Valencia Baryton Project

A string trio with four instruments? A harpsichord hiding behind the cello? The Valencia Baryton Project has dedicated itself to the performance of music written for an ancient and little-known instrument, the baryton. A cross between the viol da gamba and lirone, with 10 resonating and plucked strings down the back of the instrument, the baryton gives the traditional string trio an entirely new dimension.
