Town Hall Arts Center Presents SWING!, Now thru 3/23

By:

The next production in Town Hall Arts Center's 2013-2014 Season will be Swing!, Original concept by Paul Kelly, original direction and choreography by Lynne Taylor - Corbett. Swing! is directed by Matthew D. Peters, most recently seen choreographing Peter Pan for PACE and Home for the Holidays at Lone Tree Arts Center, Matthew makes his directorial debut at Town Hall Arts Center.

Town Hall favorite, Donna K. Debreceni (2012 Henry Award winner for Outstanding Musical Direction fo The Who's Tommy) returns as musical director and will lead a live band on keyboards. Keeping her company are Darren Kramer (Darren Kramer Organization) on trombone, Bob Rebholz (Colorado Conservatory for Jazz Arts) on reeds, Rob Reynolds (Arvada Center/Magic Moments) on trumpet), Scott Alan SMith (ONSOMBLEY) on bass/guitars, and Tag Worley (Country Dinner Playhouse) on drums.

"Two thirds rhythm and one thrid soul." That's how Fats Waller defined the uniquely American form of popular music and dance known as swing. Swing! celebrated this remarkable diversiy to the beat of the most exhilarating songs of the period, including "It Don't Mean a Thing," "In the Mood," and "Cry Me a River" just to name a few. This enthralling song0and-dance show makes it abundantly clear, swing was never a time or place- it has always been a state of mind!

Town Hall's production of Swing! is presented by Citywide Banks, and opens tonight, February 21, 2014 and runs through March 23 2014. Show times are Thursdays, Fridays & Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. (& 2:00 p.m. on 3/8) & Sundays at 2 p.m. (& 6:30 p.m. on 3/2)
