Columbus Children's Theatre will present the regional premiere of CRASH April 6 -23 at Park Street Theatre located at 512 Park Street. Directed by William Goldsmith and written by Y York; Based on the novel by Newberry Award-winning author Jerry Spinelli.

CRASH is Y York's play based on Jerry Spinelli's book of the same title. The story focuses on Crash who seems to have it all - good grades, natural athleticism, and popular friends. He is also selfish, self-centered, unstoppable, a boy running so fast he can't see the chances for love and connection that are all around him. His new friend, Mike, cherishes all of Crash's bold and bully characteristics, while his Old Acquaintance, Penn Webb, sees a deeper secret hidden within Crash. Life presents Crash with a chance to win big, but to do so, he's going to have to come in second.

For our production of CRASH, we recommend students from grades 4th - 8th, which is where the book is commonly read in schools. Though it is popular for these age ranges in the classroom, the story is one that will stick with them for a lifetime. This play is in two acts and 105 minutes long.

CRASH takes you on a journey that is understood and experienced by many students. The ever-so-common battles with peer pressure, bullying, and competition are put to the test with themes of love, acceptance, and joy. Theatre is a wonderful way of communicating to an audience compared to the typical ways of lecture, reading, and discussion. CRASH tells a story of bullying and how to steer one's life into the right direction through their own choices.

CRASH is brought to you by North Steppe Realty. CCT thanks season sponsors Greater Columbus Arts Council, The Columbus Foundation, Ohio Arts Council, The National Endowment for the Arts, American Electric Power, The Shubert Foundation and Nationwide.
