Introduction:
In early Qing Dynasty, scholar Wu Zhaoqian was condemned to exile in the northeast for cheating in the imperial examination. To save his bosom friend, Gu Zhenguan, another talented scholar, cast himself as a mentor at the prime minister’s where his devotion to friendship won much appreciation and support from the eldest son of the prime minister. After decades of sufferings, Wu was freed finally, but he was totally changed, body and soul. How would Gu react to the degeneration of his dearest old friend?
