8/F Platform is an experimental dance platform presented by Hong Kong Dance Company. Following the great success of 8/F Platform X - A Decade of Creativity in 2016, which showcased performances from China, Japan, Korea and Taiwan, this year 8/F Platform will present a series of local original pieces debut by a group of talented performance rookies.

Hong Kong Dance Company kicks off 2017 8/F Platform with an full length dance piece- In an Instant. Emerging choreographer Dorothy Sek together with 4 young dancers - Chiman Tong, Libby Liu, Nicky Hu and Rex Cheng compile an enthusiastic dance and movement forum. By interacting with audiences, they explore the streaking yet impressive beauty of charm in an instant.

Choreographer and four dancers interfuse the technique of Chinese folk dance as inspiration with modern dance elements to bring forth the production. Body movement collaborates with original music pieces to construct an extraordinary theater space. All things seem familiar, but easily lose sight of and get covered up if you are distracted. We focus, we wait, we dig and discern the most authentic presence of oneself through the moment of exposure.

8/F Platform- In An Instant will be staged at Hong Kong Dance Company's "8/F Platform" at 8/F, Sheung Wan Civic Centre from 22 to 24 September 2017.

Dorothy graduated from The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA), majoring in Chinese Dance with a minor in Choreography.

She had further studies in The MinZu University of China in Beijing, majoring in Chinese Ethic Dance and gained the training in Beijing Tao Dance Theatre as well.

She was one of the representatives of the HKAPA for performances with the London Contemporary Dance School in Italy.

Her graduation choreography The Initial Knot is produced in 2012. It also received the Merit Award from The Bauhinia Cup Dance Championships 2012 and the Sliver Award of Original & Choreographic Award from Bauhinia Cup International Dance Invitations Championships 2012. Sek has been invited to The 4th Beijing Ethnic Minority Performances to present the piece Phoenix as pas de deux and awarded the price of "The Best New Artist".

The production Unity has been presented in Danse Elargie in Paris Theatre de la Ville in June 2014.
