The School for Theatre Creators to Host Open House, 6/18
Despite scores of artists and a "theatre-town" reputation, Chicago is not always recognized as a cultural capital. Actors and devisors travel abroad for critical training and certification, or wait for external companies with short workshop programming to come to town. Coletto's School For Theatre Creators fills the void of comprehensive performance education while providing a meeting point and destination for local, national, and interNational Theatre artists.
Ms. Coletto and The School's faculty invite the press and public to attend a presentation and open house for the upcoming program at the MSA & Circus Arts Gym on June 18th from 7-9 PM.
As one of only 40 graduates to have been certified as a pedagogical specialist under Jaques Lecoq, Paola Coletto forges fundamentals from L'École Internationale de Théâtre and her experience as a world-traveled artist and director into her teaching and leadership.
The curriculum is a two-year intensive that coaches students to identify their own tools of creation through artistic and personal research. Year One, called "Pre- Season Training", provides the basis for acquiring a solid body structure while opening up a free creative space in the actor's mind. Year Two: "Game On" is exclusively theatrical and created to explore existing theatrical styles. This year focuses on production, devised or directed.
Paola Coletto's process is a return to the roots of performance, a journey from ego to self that empowers artists from every discipline and background. Next year, this vision will be put into action by The School for Theatre Creators. Under the direction of The School, through the work of students, and with the support of our community, a future of productivity and recognition for a new brand of Chicago artist will begin to live.
