10 on Tuesday with Ed Jones

Ed Jones is one of Hell in a Handbag's most prolific ensemble members playing everyone from Tinsel Town legends to meek and much-put-upon personal secretaries. His current role is a much higher calling. He's playing Sister Acacius in Charles Busch's THE DIVINE SISTER, opening June 4. We caught up with the talented actor for 10 on Tuesday:

1) Show you first auditioned for (and did you get the part)? The first show I
ever auditioned for was my high school production of The Wizard of Oz. I used the Wicked Witch's dramatic melting scene as my audition, but was cast as the Tin Man.

2) Where are you originally from? Emporia, VA

3) Currently Working On / Recently Closed? Currently in rehearsals for
Hell in a Handbag's production of THE DIVINE SISTER by Charles Busch.
Opens June 4th!

4) What's your dream role/production? My dream role/production has not
been written yet. The title of the show would be The Return of the Bloody
Fabulous Curse of Dragula

5) Favorite post-performance haunt? Mary's Attic in Andersonville holds a
special place in my heart.

6) Living or dead, who would you drop everything to see perform? If I had
a time machine, I would travel back to 1954 to see James Dean's
performance in THE IMMORTALIST on Broadway. I recently saw Carol Burnett at
the Chicago Theater. Nothing short of death would have prevented me from
seeing her.

7) What's your guilty pleasure? Spending Sundays binge watching Netflix.

8) Describe the Chicago community in three words: Vibrant, nurturing,
family.

9) Fill in the blank: "If I could change one thing about theatre in Chicago, it would be ..... "More of me in it"

10) Fill in the blank: "The thing I'd never change about theatre in
Chicago is ......."
"our fearless and in your face storefront theatre scene."

Ed Jones appears as Sister Acacius in Hell in a Handbag's production of THE DIVINE SISTER June 4-July 10 at Ebenezer Lutheran Church, 1650 W. Foster. Tickets $28-$38. www.handbagproductions.org or by calling (800) 838-3006
